More about the hotel
Simple hotel in the heart of the action!
This hotel is pretty simple & basic but a good value and even better location! If you want to hang out at the beach, it's a 3min walk across the street. Hotel pool is a bit lackluster, but the views up there are nice and it never seemed to be busy. We weren't expecting any type of all-inclusive, so we were quite surprised to be offered free bar from 11am-11pm daily. Bottom shelf liquor, but it's free! Rooms are very basic. We were a bit disappointed there is no way to heat water for tea/coffee in the room, but that was the only disappointment. Rooms did have an iron & safe, but otherwise very basic. We were only in our rooms to sleep so they suited us just fine. You pick this place for the location & the price. Don't have expectations of grandeur but it's a nice place to sleep, in the heart of the action.
No amenities
We stayed at the Aloft Hotel in the hotel zone. The staff were pleasant and accommodating. The hotel was immaculate. It also had free drinks from 11am to 11 pm. And you could get bottled water free any time you wanted. However, if you are looking for amenities you're out of luck. No coffee machine in the room, no coffee/souvenir shop in the lobby. No restaurant in building. Pool on roof not heated. It was like stepping into a glass of ice water. Small beach across the street which was about 6 feet at high tide. So, if you don't need them, the hotel is right up your alley. Vinnie D
Disappointed
Two stars because of very frendly stuff and great breakfast. Usually I'd like to give 1* beacuse of poor food menu for lunch and dinner and noise in bedroom. They have A La Carte menu for lunch and dinner. Menu contains only 2 kind of main dish. Same menu for lunch and dinner, evey day. We paid for all inclusive and we expect various food for hotel with 4*. After 2 days, you can't eat pasta or grilled chicken breast anymore and you must eat in restaurants out of hotel and spend more money for that. Second bad thing is a big noise in bedroom. noise comes from ventilation pipes behind the walls and starts at 8am. This two problems are serious for 4* hotel and I do not recommend this hotel for stay. Also, windows are fixed and you can't open it for fresh air in the morning
Beyond terrible, Bonvoy needs to ban this property
I am a very loyal Gold elite member and have stayed at this property 3 years ago and enjoyed my stay. Amazing how this property has nose dived in such a relatively short period. If you are looking to stay in a Mexican prison and be “shaken down”, book this aloft. 1- I made my reservation months ago on my Bonvoy app for 2 queens as my wife and daughter with me. Upon checkin was told upgraded to a king, say what??? I said I will stick with my 2 queens as I need 2 beds, was told reservation is for 2, I owed an additional $50 for my daughter. Long story short, my default on the app is in fact 2 people, and given this IS NOT an all inclusive it is irrelevant. In fact, when you book on the app or web site it is the same price for 2 or 3 people in a room for this property, but my app is set for 2 and thats what was on my reservation. Front desk acknowledged this but said “in person” additional person is an additional $50. Make sense right!!!?? Bottom line I was forced to pay this extortion or not be allowed to check in. 2- Room was crazy hot and never cooled down, daughter and I got about 2 hours sleep, wife didn’t have issue (menopause has allowed her to sleep in 130 degrees!!!!) 3- 2 towels requested via Bonvoy app as the room only had 2(request submitted 5 pm and remained “open” through our checkout at 9 am the next day). Yes you read that correctly, extorted for $50 for my third person in my 2 queen room, yet no towels, coffee, nothing for a 3rd person. 4- room was as bland as a jail cell( or as my daughters freshman dorm room) Stay far away from this joint. As a sidenote: no body enjoys the feeling of getting ripped off. It’s not that $50 is a huge amount, it’s the point someone stole it. I have emailed Bonvoy on this property and will dispute the charge on my Platinum Amex.
NOT SAFE
THEY WILL ENTER YOUR ROOM EVEN IF YOU HAVE A DO NOT DISTURB SIGN. I DON’T FEEL SAFE LEAVING MY ROOM. I was woken up from a nap by a man in my room asking if I wanted my room cleaned. I checked in last night, what would need to be cleaned?! AGAIN, a Do Not Disturb sign was posted AND in addition to that the sign about no room service to save the environment was also posted. DO NOT TRUST THIS HOTEL!!
