Nice comfortable bed and steps from Haystack rock.

We loved this cottage. It was just my grown daughter and myself, but this place was my favorite stop on our 10 day trip. It was very crowded with many famlies. We never ate in their resturant, but the cottage was cute and quaint. We walked down to the beach and loved it. Only thing I would change would be to have a check in point at this location. I had to call to see where we were supposed to check in, but they made it very easy once we drove down the street. We loved staying here and will be back.
A Small, Convenient Room on a Budget
Reviewed 18 August, 2021
On August 6-7, 2021, my daughter and I stayed in McBee Cottage #36, which is the smallest, most basic room at the cottages. As advised by the Cannon Beach Hotel staff prior to booking, the room is very small, just a queen bed, a painted concrete floor with a tiny closet and a small bathroom with a nice, stand up tile shower.
The bathroom has a small pedestal style sink with a small shelf over the toliet. There is only one outlet in the bathroom, which is up high for the hair dryer.
The room has a flat screen TV with cable/dish services, which worked well and wifi which was adequate. Please note this cottage room has NO amenities. There is no AC, microwave, mini fridge or nearby ice machine and has only one electric outlet in the room that is accessible, so plan accordingly. You may open the windows for fresh, cooler air if needed
You can occasionally hear the other people staying in the adjoining room, but it wasn't a problem. Additionally, there is no continental breakfast or coffee provided to cottage guests, so again, plan accordingly.
The best thing about this room is that you park your car directly in front of your door and it is only a block to the beach (Hay Stack Rock) and is centrally located in Cannon Beach near many shops & restaurants. It's also very close to Ecola State Park.
If you are on a tight budget and require no amenities and just need a bed for one or two persons max for a night or two, then you should consider McBee Cozy Cottage #36.
However, if you require a room with more space and some amenities, you probably will be better served to spend a little more money and stay somewhere else within the Cannon Beach Hotel properties or with another hotel.
Busy & noisy on July 4th weekend

Dog friendly, so almost every room has a dog, and when one barks others join the chorus. There IS a nice courtyard for dogs right out front, which is very convenient. (Unless you are trying to BBQ or eat at the tables when a dog decides now is the time to go.) Nice room, but small. We had an ant invasion, and the private residence behind 32-37 decided it was a good weekend for a power tool project (all day/evening!) We may go back, but not on a summer weekend.

The Cottage was small but seemed quite charming!! Checking in was a real pain as we had to go down the street to check in and get our keys. We were asked several times what time we would be arriving only to still have to wait until nearly 4:00 PM
There are no breakfasts offered at the Cottages but you would think that you would be able to get a complementary breakfast at the Cannon Beach hotel since they are part of the McBee Cottages and you have to check in and out there. The room had a small refrigerator and microwave some plates, cups and silverware but no sink to clean them you have to use the bathroom sink (Yuk) We were woke at around 7: am to a lawn care man using a gas powered hedge trimmer for nearly two hrs. No one cleans your room daily as expected due to covid 19 but no one even offers to change or offers new towels. The location is good close to beach easy access. All in all just an average place.
Great place to stay

Stayed for 2 nights and wish it would've been more. Walking distance to everything. We had our dog with us and they left a basket for him. The room was well appointed and included all basic kitchen needs. Everything was extremely clean. We'll definitely return for a visit.
