Approached area from back roads- desolate, area presented as unsafe . Hotel gated, required notification if you plan to be out later in evening. Hotel I am sure was once good but today while it has character ( due to antiques) it is dated/ underwhelming. Pool open but very cold. Sarah hard worker who seemed to dot it ALL. No elevator- meals average . Greek ruins amazing and would suggest avoid overnight trips and plan for a day trip only. Small dining area- at dinner 3 man group ( local) arrived and were loud, reviewed phone videos that could easily be overheard and were unpleasant to other diners- they didn’t seem to care, acted like they owned the place .
Great location in Paestum and with a wonderful staff.
I love Paestum, and we decided to take my family here. We booked four rooms, all were basic but comfortable, but all had air conditioning, a nice surprise. The grounds are lovely, as is the pool. But for us - it was the staff who made our trip, including my sister in law's first trip to Italy, so special. We are a difficult bunch to manage but they handled us just right. Next time we will eat at the restaurant for dinner. The breakfast was lovely and they made great coffee. I'm hoping to plan a writers retreat to Italy next year and I hope we can make Paestum and this hotel part of our journey.
Peaceful, relaxing, welcoming
The location is the best, optimal for both the archaeological site and the train station. However the amazing owners are always ready to pick you up by car if needed. They even leave you with free bicycles at your disposal, in case you prefer being independent. We took one of the external rooms. It is clean, quite and the bathroom fully equipped. The breakfast is very generous. In conclusion we left more than satisfied by the hospitality offered there.
Country hotel close to the ruins
This is a very nice hotel with lovely grounds, bikes and swimming pool. Good restaurant with limited choices every evening (which need to be chosen in advance.) Breakfast buffet. Adequate wifi in or near main hotel.
Overview: a group of 6 friends on a walking holiday, this was night 1. Arrival: we were picked up from the station (easy journey from Naples). Lovely welcome, a great family concern. Rooms: immaculate, comfortable, lots of hot water, very quiet. Food: we were on a half board, dinner was lovely (4 vegetarians very well catered for), pasta, salad, main and desert. Very good and reasonably priced house wine. Breakfast, a good buffet. Dining area had a nice atmosphere. Other hotel areas: an immaculate pool and area (too cold unfortunately), lovely gardens and good areas to lounge. Area: a perfect place, a few minutes walk to the entrance and museum of Paestum (which is incredible and was really quiet when we were there), short distance to the station (we chose to walk there the next day). A few minutes walk to the beach. Thank you for a lovely stay, we would definitely return.
