Longest ever wait for terrible food sadly

Reviewed 11 september, 2022

The title says it sll sadly.Slowest service ever unless it was for the bill....overpriced for very under average meal. There was only a few people in,so it certainly wasn't busy...I had to ask where the meal was after over 30 mins to b met wth blank stares.Even fetching cutlery so we could finally eat took staff an age, tables were sticky too. Been a hard time for everyone having been thru' covid, please improve the standard as currently it doesn't encourage customers sadly!

Stop off

Lovely location, hotel and room are clean, the only problem was no full English breakfast only continental breakfast that looked very sad, so we went down to the train station to the brief encounter and that was a lovely breakfast. The room were away from the hotel too.

Great rooms, underwhelming service

Reviewed 28 august, 2022

The rooms were spacious and clean. Beds were lovely and comfortable. Would stay there again. With regards to the evening meal, there is an obvious issue with the front of house staff and lack of management. We were seated and left for about an hour without anyone taking drinks or food order. After requesting someone to Come over we made our orders. We were then left again for over 40 minutes before being told there would be a delay with the order. There was only us and another table at this point. We had clearly been forgotten . When the meals came out we had to request the sauces as they had forgotten to bring them. 3 out of the 4 steaks we ordered came wrong with one of them that should have been medium, actually quite rare and most of it had to be left. We did give this feedback at the time . Breakfast should’ve been at 7:30 but the doors were locked until just before 8 when they advised we had been told wrongly and it was at 8. A guest had to climb under the table to turn on the toaster and it took a while for them to get all of the food out whilst guests awkwardly waited around. Breakfast was lovely though and good quality. Because of these issues, I wouldn’t probably eat here again unless under a different management.

Quick call in for lunch as passing

Reviewed 25 august, 2022

We called in at the County for a quick lunch as we were passing through Carnforth. Although the car park seemed quiet we decided to give this place a whirl after all it was midweek. The overflowing ashtrays outside were very off-putting but we decided to continue. The dining room itself is lovely and a very nice setting, light and airy, menu simple but adequate and catered for everyone. Only downfall was the wait, as explained from the only staff member in the restaurant, was only one chef was on duty. Seemed to be a few "managers" loitering about, but they failed to offer assistance to this lone staff member. Staff members attitude was loving and very apologetic for wait. Food when arrived was lovely and flavoursome, credit to a stressed chef! Would call in again, hopefully staffing issues will be better and staff not so harassed.

Very disappointing

Reviewed 21 august, 2022

We have stayed here twice over the past week. Last Sunday which was ok although the wait for our two cooked breakfasts was over long We also stayed here on Friday night and were advised that breakfast would be from 08:00 on Saturday but we turned up at 08:20 to discover six other guests but no breakfast due to no staff being on duty. A very tearful lady then turned up, extremely apologetic and very upset Another member of staff, Shelley who works in housekeeping, jumped in and organised a continental breakfast for all of us, she was an absolute star I don't like having to write such a review but you have to up your game, you could have done so much better
