Hotel GHL Corales de Indias refused our check-in because we are not Colombian!
We booked this hotel several weeks ago, because we wanted to offer our 4-year old kid some playing opportunity – and you should have seen his happy face when he’s seen the water park through the window at the check-in. Tears followed soon, because we were told that Booking.com had cancelled our booking. However, according to booking.com our booking was still active, and even still bookable online, thus, we kept insisting. To cut a long story short, after 1 hour of discussion with all levels of management, we learned that the GHL top management ordered to cancel all bookings of foreigners because they are afraid of the coronavirus. However, we’ve been in Colombia for 2 months already (as shown by the stamp in our passport) - thus, certainly no more risk than anyone local. Anyhow, they wouldn’t reason and sent us away. While we have understanding for anti-virus measures, we are very annoyed because (a) they cancelled our booking without notice, (b) they were trying to blame booking.com instead of telling us the true reason, (c) they were hiding behind the process and principle, rather than evaluating the situation with reason, (d) they made no attempt to help with alternatives, basically left us in the street and eventually forced us to arranged for an overpriced short-term solution elsewhere. This is certainly the very last time we’ll book anything with GHL.
So La La
As all boutique Hotels were sold out, I booked the Corales- The room is nice and big- But: Aircon is not to regulate; NO ENGLISH TV CHANNELS! Nearly no one speaks English; service is very very slow! Waited for a sandwich 40 minutes although there were nearly no guests- another time they just forgot my order! Breakfast is poor in the eyes of Europeans- Highway in front of hotel - so very noisy- NO access to beach! You have to go to a public one, which is not save! Went to another Hotel and bought a day pass! Pool area not big; lots of concrete- would not come again here- The staff is very friendly!!! 👍
Authentic and beautiful
I am a returning customer at this hotel. I just booked my second visit. This hotel just feels like a perfect balance between authentic people, a good price, and a beautiful environment. The main points of differentiation for this hotel is that it is close to the airport; transportation service is readily available and not too expensive if you want to visit other areas or go out to the beach. If you want to stay at the hotel during the day there are basically four different types of pools you can chose, kids pool, normal pool, a wading pool and jet tubs (note: make sure to wear sunblock...the sun is a beast near the equator). They play music and have great food at the pool for relatively decent prices. It had a very nice and relaxed atmosphere for couples but also family-friendly if you have children. Overall, I felt very happy and grateful to have stayed here. And I will be returning in April. Thanks so much to the staff and managers. It was a beautiful experience for me to stay at your hotel.
Nice hotel, great aervice
We stayed at the hotel for 4 days while we were visiting Cartagena. The hotel is in a quite neighborhood called Crespo far from the tourist area Bocagrande. However it’s very easy to go to the city by cab. The hotel has a nice pool, the restaurant offers good Caribbean food and service and personal are really nice. Guests are mostly Colombian. The best place if you want to run away from tourist areas and enjoy the sun during the day and visit the city in the late afternoon.
Worst place in the world
I really don’t care what anyone said . This is the armpit of the world for a hotel . I am just going to say the staff is great property needs to burned to the ground . Run as fast as you can . Upgraded me to the suite because the showers don’t work in regular rooms . Checking out in morning . Don’t give a f what it cost to move
