More about the hotel
Fresh and Breezy
An address I will you time and again if I visit Cartagena. You are not in the hustle bustle of the Old town nor are you in the Boca Grande area where you find the ugly tall buildings and crowded streets. This hotel is nestled in the lovely area of La Boquilla - 10 mins from Old town and 10 mins from the airport. The interior is fresh and clean and the staff are great. I payed to upgrade my room to the Master Suite - 1 stayed for 1 night and wanted to have access to the Suite's balcony for the perfect sunset. I was a bit dissapointed with the quality of the furnishing in the suite as all the surfaces seems to be manky/stained and old and not clean... the stench of dampness also bothered me and all the curtains needs a deep clean/wash as they were no longer white but beige/brown.
Beautiful hotel with fantastic staff
My partner and I stayed here in March just before everything shut down because of lockdown and the food, drinks, the room quality and cleanliness and most of all the staff's exceptional service was 10/10. As a Radisson gold member I was also kindly upgraded to a lovely, suite with a balcony and 2 bathroom. These are definitely worth paying the extra for. We had to return because our other travel plans were cancelled due to covid. Even though the hotel had suddenly become emptier as the whole of Cartagena pretty much shut down, this didn't make a difference to the staff's amazing attitude and friendliness. The breakfast buffet was huge and extensive, the poolside lunches included delicious pastas and fresh poke bowls and the dinners were more high end and included lots of fresh seafood. The only thing to be aware of is you need to taxi to and from the town as the hotel is in a quieter part of Cartagena. This takes around 8 mins each way. Thanks for a great stay.
40th Birthday
Awesome beachfront resort! I celebrated my 40th Birthday here and will definitely return. I reserved the 2 bedroom suite, the balcony overlooks the ocean. Such amazing views sunrises and sunsets. It's was perfectly located, just a short taxi ride to all of the happening spots. I highly recommend, already planning my return.
Excellent vacation
Excellent service; very comfortable place, amazing installations. Very nice beach, pool and Jacuzzi. Room service, housekeeping, and the restaurant staff very friendly. Like this place a lot definitely recommended..
Foreign Tourists - stay away! This hotel is only suitable for locals.
We recently visited Cartagena from the US and stayed in Cartagena for 6 days. 4 days we stayed in Bastion Luxury Hotel - 5 stars from the perspective of service and hospitality. The last 2 days were in Radisson Cartagena. The check-in process was a nightmare. None of our US credit cards worked. They blamed us and said our CCs have reached their limits. Debit cards also didn't work. We have been using the cards for our stay in Cartagena and they worked everywhere. They just didn't know how to use a foreign credit card. We had a senior in the group who waited in the lobby for 2 hours - they refused to give us a room while we sorted this out. We discovered later there was an intermediate step which they skipped and as a result, the CC transactions were failing. The hotel staff didn't show any kind of empathy towards the senior citizen in the group who waited in the lobby for 2 hours. There was no acknowledgment or apology from the hotel. The experience left us shaken. We had to pool whatever cash we had. I concur with many of the posts here in the forum. I warn you that this is not a Radisson hotel and is maintained by a local hotel operator. If you are visiting Colombia from outside the country - don't go here. Stay inside the old town, hotels are much better, staffs are friendlier, and they know how to use a credit card. Stay away!
