Love this Hotel

We visit Castelo de Vide a few times a year and always stay at Hotel Sol e Serra. The Staff Rui, Alex, Joel and Sophia are so helpful and welcoming. They always make us feel at home as soon as we walk in. The rooms are lovely and very comfortable and the price excellent. Very central so you can walk everywhere.

It’s a shame but we had a horrible stay... the beds are really uncomfortable (only single beds), the room was really cold, the walls are so thin that you can hear your neighbors entire conversations, restaurant and bar closed, etc. The decoration and furniture are really old fashioned.
The good points are that the staff was really nice and helpful and the room was very clean!
We keep coming back

Have stayed here many times over the last few years. Love the hotel. A walk into the lovely small friendly town takes 3 minutes. The staff Rui, Alex and Sophie so helpful and always smiling. Rooms excellent. Will be back again next year

Good location, restaurant closed, room needs new tv and bed, nice staff, parking in front free.
If we want to eat something, we need to go out of the hotel. Many restaurants options near.
Ask for options in the reception.
Well placed, mainly adequate hotel in an attractive village

Stayed here for 5 nights as part of a group booking with a choir “on tour”. We were lucky enough to have a balcony with splendid views of the hills and the church opposite; the only drawback being that with the window/door open, the smoke from people smoking on the bar/terrace below drifted up into the room.
Our room was a reasonable size and fairly comfortable and the bathroom was well equipped with a “rain shower” over the bath; always plenty of hot water. The servicing of the room was excellent and efficient.
With regard to breakfast, whilst there was a large selection the quality was generally poor and the coffee hardly worth bothering about. This, coupled with the unfriendly, unhelpful attitude of the breakfast staff, rather let the hotel down, as did the poor quality of our final group evening meal, again with unhelpful service.
The hotel is well placed just on the edge of this attractive, friendly village with it’s green spaces, cobbled streets with whitewashed houses, attractive squares, good selection of bars, cafes and restaurants, public drinking fountains with the untainted local mineral water which apparently led the village to attracting “spa visitors” in the past. Highlight has got to be the walk up to the old castle (steep!) where you are rewarded with great views across the surrounding countryside of the Alentejo region as well as across to nearby Spain.
