Nice stay.

Reviewed 15 november, 2022

This was our first visit to the hotel. We had a suite - nice but could do with some modernisation. The facilities were good in public areas with a bright dining room. We ate elsewhere on our second evening because the staff were nice and helpful, the food was ok but not note worthy. I think we'd have to hear of some improvement before booking another trip.

2 single beds put together, no gym as advertised (ask them for details) unhelpful reception when you arive

Reviewed 12 october, 2022

The fitness suite is a lie... it is so limited it's not worth being there. A few dumbbells, 1 running machine, a rowing machine and a leg extension..... that's it. The most useless so called gym I have ever seen The staff on reception are not helpful, no opening times given fir the pool, no WiFi information , not even breakfast time The double bed is not a double... its 2 singles put together so v v uncomfortable. If you want romantic don't stay here Upside,,,,, breakfast, a lounge with your room, This place could be amazing.... but lack of information another 2 single beds put together will put a lot of people off.

Nice hotel needs updating

Reviewed 5 october, 2022

This hotel needs updating . Bedrooms need re painting Bathroom need to be updated 2 people can not go in together. Shower was not very good to adjust. The staff were very good. On one day only 6 people played the golf course. Lets hope the new owners can make the changers needed. Rooms are still not serviced because of Covid ( short of staff? ). We had a 4 night stay we had to ask for clean towels etc

Horrendous food.

Stayed here for the weekend, the grounds and the golf course are absolutely stunningly beautiful, really nice walks around the old estate. The service from the staff in the hotel was spot on, particularly from the bar staff. The rooms themselves are very old and tired and most fixtures and fittings need replacement. The room was clean. The chef cooking on Sat 24th is below average. Everything he sent out was poor, the soup tasted awful, I asked for a medium rare steak it came out Blue in the middle and my starter was meant to be roasted Partridge but they sent out a boiled breast with an uncooked neck of the bird attached to it which was raw. Breakfast is poor too.

Almost excellent

Reviewed 22 september, 2022

I booked this break just as Bespoke had taken over from Macmillan hotels, so we really did not know what to expect. Public rooms are huge & very impressive! Our bedroom had a lovely view over the extensive grounds & the hills beyond, & was spacious, clean & comfortable. All the staff have to be commended for excellent, friendly service. We had drinks & canapes in the conservatory bar, before a really top class 4 course dinner, with plenty of choice on a different menu each evening. In contrast, breakfast was disappointing, not up to standard for a hotel of this kind. Not only are you asked to choose beforehand (more likely in a small B&B) but the menu for hot food is very limited, with no provision of the usual selection of rolls or crusty bread etc. We did enjoy our stay here,a good base to tour the area
