Our first hotel choice was cancelled and so we booked here. At first glance the hotel seems very nice. We booked a superior room which is misleading as it simply means a 3 bedded room. We did have a balcony with a view of the mountains but housekeeping kept shutting the louvre doors so the view is irrelevant. The room itself was kept clean but it sadly lacked any maintenance. An example being patches of wallpaper covering areas where i assume something had came of wall (a coat hook being one). There were cracked floor tiles and the bathroom had a lot of mold around the bath. Furniture was usable but had been stressed to look a lot older than it was and externally rag painted to look shabby sheek. Breakfast for us seemed poor a bit of ham and cheese and cereals in the main and a few pastries (not our breakfast at all).We found out on our last breakfast we could order eggs but this isnt advertised so we missed out. We had a meal int the restaurant but it was small portions and overpriced. Overall we were dissapointed
Nice hotel in a beautiful location
I stayed here recently on a cycling trip with friends and the hotel was nice and clean with friendly staff. We ate at the hotel as well and the food was really lovely with a great variety. The rooms were nice and clean and the beds were comfy. We only had the one night there but would stay again as it is in a great spot with lots of lovely narrow streets and it’s own car park a few hundred metres down the road.
Great Start to Walking holiday!
Beautiful rural setting, peaceful and ideal location for beginning our walk along the Amalfi coast. Rooms are clean, not fancy, quite basic but adequate. Loved the pool, fantastic view and garden! Shame the pool wasn’t heated because even in 30degrees heat it felt freezing! Poolside bar was a disappointment, lacking professional service and limited food and drink available, we found it difficult to find a waiter to be served drinks and lunch early afternoon. Evening meal and breakfast were good for what we needed but not exciting.
I stayed at this hotel as a single traveller, part of an Andante tour group. The hotel has a quirky layout, set up the side of a hill. It has a genteel quality and style. The food and service was excellent - with staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. It has well laid out gardens and a swimming pool. My bed room was fitted with air conditioning, with en-suite bathroom and traditional furniture. I would look forward to another stay at this hotel and picturesque area.
Well where do I start and do I really want tell others about this beautiful little jewel on the hillside just off the Amalfi coast??!! We arrived at 2.30am and contrary to what others wrote we found it very easy to find thanks to our friend Google maps. Greeted with a smile and a quick fill in on hours for breakfast etc we were shown to our classic room with balcony, fridge and AC. The shower although maybe a little old fashioned worked better than many modern ones I have come across on my travels over the years. Waking up, the view from the balcony was spectacular...hills, greenery, sunshine and not a sound except for the odd bird tweeting. Breakfast was served on the terrace or inside and consisted of everything from freshly squeezed fruit juice, pastries, hams and cheeses and of course coffee. Don't be put off by machine. It's freshly ground and the milk is fresh being filtered from a churn on the side. Walking down to the pool you come across many little terraces and hide aways, amongst the vines which give beautiful shade. Obviously great spots for a read of your book or little cocktail before dinner. The pool is run very efficiently by Giovanni who looks after his guests in away that makes each guest feel special. Lunches and dinners are a must if if only the once. Again contrary to most hotels the lunch/ dinners are top class. Local produce cooked in away only Italian chefs know how... again waitresses/waiters so attentive. Then there is the little bar run by Antonio. He has homemade ice cream and if you're lucky you might get lemon sorbet drowned in limoncello....a good end to an evening out. Last but not least all the staff at reception. Patrizia, Manuel and Marco just to mention a few. Friendly helpful and nothing ever too much. Something else worth mentioning was that many of the guests I got talking to came every year for battery recharge....basically the hotel has a regular clientele which has to be a good sign. My conclusion is having arrived stressed to the eyeballs, after 7 days here I felt ready to start back in the big city and work.
