I should have read reviews on this place before booking, reviews on Choice Hotels say's the same thing, in bad shape. Choice Hotels should take it off there website until all renovations are done. But I needed a place that night and all other places were full or cost to much for grandma and grandpa, was in town for grandson's baseball tournament so that was why everything was full, as another reviewer wrote about room 101, i got it. Room still unchanged for 3 to 4 months, they must not be working on reno's.

This motel should be closed until all repairs are done. My room had half the walls just covered in plastic sheeting. Still charging full price. No mention of any of the construction or areas of the motel being closed due to construction on the website or during booking.
Horrific. No other word for it. Absolutely horrific.

Our experience at Quality Inn North in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was absolutely abysmal. Never have I been in such a shoddy facility. We made a room reservation online about one month before our expected stay. I also called and spoke with hotel staff twice after that--most recently the day before our arrival. After arrival we were given Room 101, which was absolutely unsafe and uninhabitable. It was undergoing heavy construction and did not have an exterior wall; it was stripped down to studs and concrete blocks and was then covered with clear plastic. There was exposed electrical work and multiple holes in the walls, and the deadbolt was completely unsecure to the inside of the door. It was truly a safety hazard. Despite speaking with hotel staff twice via phone (and having to be called "hon" multiple times, which is rather unacceptable), never once was I informed that this facility was under construction.
We did not have time to complain or request a room change at that point, as we were running late for a family wedding. After the ceremony, however, we returned to the hotel, packed our bags, and checked out. I requested a refund. At that point the employee at the front desk asked if everything was ok, and when I began expressing our concerns she immediately knew which room we'd been in. She was utterly appalled that we'd been given Room 101 and apologized profusely. She stated that I would be contacted by the hotel's GM to be issued a refund, but we are now approaching 72 hours since then, and I have heard nothing. An online complaint that I made yesterday has also gone unanswered. If this situation is not rectified and a full refund provided, I will continue to escalate my complaints as high as needed and will definitely be posting negative reviews elsewhere online as well.
Needless to say, I strongly advise NOT staying at this hotel; frankly, this experience has been so horrible that I will never again stay at any type of Choice Hotel. With the exception of the woman at the desk when we checked out (Caitlin Stokes), the customer service and overall experience at Quality Inn North has been among the worst in my life. This place is a dump, and you should never stay here.
Just don't do it! Run! Stay somewhere else!

I booked online. After checking in THIS (see pictures) is the room they tried to put me and my 2 children in. The room itself is under construction and you get to look at plastic covered dirty insulation for walls. In addition the smell in the room was horrendous. The front desk staff was very indifferent and rude. After I said this room was not acceptable (at this point my kids were frightened, didn't feel safe and were crying) they put me in a room with a broken window that smelled like cigarettes and marijuana (non-smoking room). I told the staff this wasn't going to work and I wanted a different hotel or a refund, but they wouldn't do a thing. She kept saying I prepaid. So apparently that gives them the right to take advantage of you. I look at it more like bait and switch. The pictures online show you one thing, but what you get is very different. Things were so bad I decided to drive home vs staying at the hotel. I PAID FOR A HOTEL I DIDN'T STAY AT. For many years my family only stayed at Choice hotels. Mainly Comfort Inn and Suites. I've never had service or accommodation issues like this before. The few small problems I did encounter were always addressed and done so respectfully and with an apology. This was a deal breaker. Never again!

They were wonderful! We moved our daughter into college. Had booked a hotel room but original hotel overbooked and did not have room for us. Had driven 5 hours. We called and everyone was booked solid. Stopped off here and the lady went through hoops for us, got us a room, tried to make our stay as comfy as possible. Turned something negative into something positive. Thank you so much!!
