Fantastic Hotel, will not hesitate to book again

Reviewed 1 december, 2022

Welcomed by a chap called Sam and he couldn’t of been more helpful and informative. Stayed here for work but will book a trip with my mrs’s as she will love the fantastic spa facilities and relaxing swimming pool - and it’s only a couple miles from the beautiful Chester city Center. Room was fantastic and super cleaned every day which is hard to find at some other hotels. Great bar area to relax in after a fantastic meal. Would highly recommend.

Just a little review on the hotel we stayed at - Brook Mollington at Chester. We feel that to classify this as 4 star hotel is a misrepresentation. I would give it a maximum of 3 stars. The outside appearance is tatty with a lot of dead plants hanging off the walls - a poor first impression. We upgraded our room to one of the four poster rooms which, whilst the room size was excellent the whole room was very tired. The bathroom was also in need of an update as it was also very tired with a very slow draining sink. Bonus was plenty of hot water! And only one plastic cup was provided between two people. Odd-sized cups for tea/coffee, one of which had a black mark inside which put us off using it. The net curtains were very old and stained. The best part of the hotel was the reception gentleman who was very polite and friendly. Breakfast: The food was ok but the plates provided were like side plates in size. Several of the cereal bowls had black marks on them - again, off putting. The milk jug had a chipped spout. We were seated in an area of the restaurant which had no lights on. Booked this through Into the Blue with a trip to Chester Zoo included but at £249 including £30 upgrade it was disappointing.

Staff Do their Best..BUT…

Reviewed 28 november, 2022

So always keen to focus on the positives.. the staff were very friendly & could not do enough to accommodate where possible. The breakfast was nice if a bit basic (no croissants or pastries) & the room clean. The towels were of very good quality & shower gel & hand wash were provided. The grounds were nice & the hotel is dog friendly. The downsides.. our room was very tired & dated. Furniture was chipped & carpets & seats stained. No double glazing & mould on window frames. The room was freezing & the heating didn’t work. An oil filled radiator was delivered but a request for extra blankets was met with “Sorry, we don’t have any”! Two of three electrical pugs in the room didn’t work. The fan in the bathroom & over mirror light didn’t work. There was no hairdryer in the room as advertised (apparently you could borrow one from reception- err not same thing..). No biscuit to go with tea & coffee in room or even a bottle of water. The facade & car park looks very 70’s retro & tired. Our room was quiet because at the back, but the busy main road would be a noise problem for rooms at the front. General opinion..can’t really recommend it unless you are completely desperate for the price they are charging & I feel sorry for the staff having to do their best in what must be for them, testing circumstances for less patient guests..

Awful! Avoid!!

Dreadful spa experience. Steam room broken, changing rooms dirty and cold. The hotel didn’t seem to have our booking and kept asking us for vouchers including while we were in the pool. No slippers, no robe, no record of our treatment. Pedicures done incorrectly twice! The beautician then admitted that she didn’t have the equipment to do shellac pedicures properly but did them anyway and then didn’t have the facilities to remove it! It was a total shambles. The hotel then dragged its feet when giving us our money back. Overall appalling! Needs to be shut down!

The best staff. Beautiful grounds. Dog friendly. Lovely hotel, with lovely people.
