Only + is location...
Checked it 1:30 early. There was a charge for early check-in. Ok. Paid it. The place is slow...prolly virus concerns and I thought that maybe they were trying to recoup some lost revenues. It was only later I discovered they offer no in-room movies. The front desk told me they don’t have smart TVs “yet.” Umm...for the price I paid for this room, “yet” to a smart TV is simply unacceptable. Get with it Marriott Corp! I’d think twice — or thrice about returning here! Shown in photo: the un-smart TV.
Popcorn ceilings expensive parking but all in al nice hotel
All in all a decent hotel although you can tell as evident by the popcorn ceilings in the rooms that the hotel was older also the mirrored closet door was a bit on. We were fortunate enough to get what we requested which was a corner room on a high floor we were the 23rd floor which the hotel is 24. The hotel does feature a pool and fitness center on the 10th floor and a business center on the lower level I did not visit the Business center so I don’t know what to say as far as how good it might be. First the good. The corner room had a beautiful view and lots of windows as you can see in the third picture below so it was a beautiful view at night and big screen TV which I think should be the norm but amazingly enough many hotels still have like 32 inch TVs. The TV also has one thing which allows you to plug in a fire stick or Apple TV and you don’t have to go through any kind of weird configuration to get it to work you’ll just need to connect to the Internet. The room was very roomy bed was very comfortable lots of light the heater/AC works good. You can tell that the hotel was renovated. There were plenty of USB ports on the side of the bed where the TV is you have for plug-ins and three USB ports on the other side of the bed you have two plug-ins in two USB ports then there are plug-ins elsewhere around the room but I didn’t see any other USB ports. The refrigerator is hidden as part of the desk it seem to keep things cool but not cold. Bad: it doesn’t have a walk-in shower it’s a bathtub shower combo narrow bathtub but that did have a big rainforest showerhead. The hotel has been renovated at some point as you can see from the pictures of the lobby it’s very nice modern but it was like they took the cheap way out because they left the popcorn ceilings and the bathtub shower combo and mirrored closet doors. There was also where they added crown molding around the top of the room there was about a quarter 2 1/2 inch gap between the ceiling and the crown molding in certain places which made no sense. Be prepared to pay $59 a night to park at the attached garage or your spot hero and there are several parking garage is an open parking lot within a block or two blocks walking distance I actually parked in a parking lot for $15 overnight versus the 59 the hotel wanted to charge. Keep in mind the hotel does offer at their own parking garage in and out privileges for that $59. Also if you spot hero a lot yourself more time than you think you’re going to need because I missed my time by less than 10 minutes of my time I was supposed to be out of the parking lot and it took an act of God almost to get me out without pain for an entire day. So in the end good hotel it’s a great location you’re just a couple blocks off of Michigan Avenue there’s plenty of little shops around there there are blue 24 hour eateries there’s a Taco Bell or Subway Dunkin’ Donuts Baskin-Robbins a few other fast food there’s also a Trader Joe’s nearby a Whole Foods about three blocks away there’s a Walgreens and CVS both close there’s a 7-Eleven about a block away. And of course then you can walk up to Michigan Avenue and have all the shopping that’s there.
Will always stay here!
This is the second time in two months I chose to stay at this hotel. The first time with my daughter and the second time with a friend. The staff each time have been kind and attentive. Alexandra at the front desk immediately corrected a room error at check in. The Starbucks located inside the hotel is convenient. The CopperFox has an excellent menu, and was surprisingly child friendly! Eli at the bar was kind, friendly, patient and attentive. There is a small pool in the fitness area that was useful for a quick activity for my daughter. Both times our room did not have a microwave. Garrett’s popcorn is right next door. This hotel is walking distance to American Girl. Both stays there were taxis conveniently located outside the hotel at checkout.
Perfect Location! Great College Visit!
If you are looking for location in downtown with walking distance to food, and shopping this is the one! Location was perfect! My son had a college visit to DePaul which was an Uber away but we were basically on Northwestern’s campus. Right there at University if Chicago and not far from Loyola also. We walked the magnificent mile easily end to end hitting all the famous retailers. He is my youngest and is 17. Parking is attached to the hotel and is $50-60 per day in and out. Not sure if the fluctuates. We happened to set the visit up accidentally on All-Star/Valentine’s weekend. The staff was amazing! Miguel was super helpful at the front desk and put us in a great room with a view of Michigan Ave. He was very pleasant and gave us great recommendations! Justin the concierge was so helpful! He also took time to give us great referrals and discounts which we used. Our favorites were “Dao” for Thai food and “West Egg” for breakfast/lunch. We also went to see an Improv show at Second City which is a must. Rated R but ages 10 and up with adults. Get tickets ahead online. Like days ahead. They sell out. This is where they discover famous comedians, many from SNL. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Had a regular 2 queen. Wish there were more bathroom counter space and better hair dryer but that isn’t really a complaint. Great place to spend your stay in Chicago! We will be back.
The staff was so accommodating and do friendly! They remembered personal details about us which made our experience so helpful and special. We had a beautiful room that was super convenient to the hospital and Michigan Avenue.
