It'll Do

Reviewed 21 october, 2022

A fine enough and slightly more economically option if attending a conference at McCormick. The doubles don't have a real chair to sit in but the lounge areas were fine for relaxing. We will all just have to get used to infrequent housekeeping these days, but that was largely bearable and the overworked staff were all kind and pleasant. The breakfast was slightly under par -- no fruit, stale-ish bread, flimsy eggs-- and there's no good nearby restaurant options if you want a real breakfast. The continuing development in the area will potentially make the convention center hotels a decent option for non-convention going visitors. The downtown sites and spots are easily accessible by foot, train, or car through the South Loop neighborhoods which are quiet and pleasant. Lake access is not that easy though.

July 2022 - 4 nights

Reviewed 14 july, 2022

Room 2026 had a great view of the Rottweiller puppy in the residences across the way, also a partial view of the lake and partial views of downtown Chicago. Our internet was spotty and for the last 2 days, I could not connect, so I wasn't able to work from my room (or plan more vacations). I used my app and received a DIGITAL KEY which was awesome since the check-in lines (4 stations) were super busy. Note that this is the reception for 3 hotels - Hampton Inn, Homes2 and Garden Inn - all by Hilton. The staff was awesome. My only disappointment was that the breakfast left a lot to be desired. This may have been the first time I was at a Hampton that didn't have fresh fruit, or any fruit. I couldn't be mad at the staff, since they don't manage the breakfast, they just work there. It was a super busy weekend - WNBA All Star Weekend, a basketball tournament with over 700 teams, and several large conferences at McCormick Place. The LOCATION is GREAT if you're going to be in McCormick Place or WinTrust.

Charged for rooms after cancellation

Reviewed 7 july, 2022

I was charged for rooms after cancellation. I had 3 rooms booked and decided not to travel due to quarantine through work. Full disclosure, I was inside the cancellation window. I explained that we were doing the honorable thing and not traveling when exposed to illness. I spoke with members of their team (3 of them) about this issue and there was not empathy. They only cared about the fine print in the policy. Additionally, my only notification of the charges was from my credit card statement. They charged me and did not bother to send a receipt. The ironic part was the lecture I received from Ashley the manager about communication to the hotel and how they would have help if I had called. Instead, I called when billed $930 of which they did not have the courtesy to send me a receipt for until I asked. I could have spoken with them if I had known the on-line cancellation was going to cause me they very expensive issue. Overall, the hotel may be by definition correct according to they policy, but given the circumstances, I feel abused, taken advantage of by a big company, and will not be doing business with them in the future. I hope others read this review and consider other options. There are plenty of other options in Chicago.

Great stay…don’t expect your room to get cleaned | “upon request”

Reviewed 30 june, 2022

This hotel is like. HIlton Honors trifecta. They have a Hilton, Home2, and Hampton Inn all in the same location. Which could have been very confusing. Everything about this stay was really, really good…except. 1. They did not ask if I was a Hilton/Hampton rewards member (so no waters offered). 2. The front staff also did not inform me upon check-in that in order to get your room cleaned you had to call daily. When did this change? Is this from COVID that the hotel doesn’t have enough workers willing to come back to work. After coming back from the conference after a long day I was severely disappointed to see my room had not been cleaned. So that night when I went out to dinner I told the front desk that they did not clean my room. Even when I asked they STILL did not tel me that they only clean rooms “upon request.” Aside from that I had to get my clothes cleaned and pressed and they front desk staff (specifically MARIO) was fantastic. He even made sure that I received my Hilton members waters each day. Plus he gave me great options to eat since I was in town for 4 nights.
