Great Location, Missing Simple Things

We had a pretty good experience here, we were there for a wedding in the hotel. I can't speak to what the hotel provided vs the bride and groom, but it was beautiful and went off without issue as far as I know. The location is perfect, we walked to the Navy Pier, Michigan Ave, Millennium Park and a bunch of restaurants.
We stayed in a king bed with balcony. There's an awkward hallway when you first enter, and that's where your closet is. Then there's a good amount of wasted space before you're actually in the bedroom. There's a barn door for the bathroom, which has a good one inch gap around it when "closed". You will not get any privacy in the bathroom unless you're alone in the room, you can hear everything and see quite a bit inside too. There's also no lock for people that care about that.
Getting ready to go out isn't easy, there's no place to do that other than in the bathroom which just has one sink and a mirror. There is a mirror on the closet in the back hallway, but there's no electrical outlet that a hair dryer etc would reach. There is a nice deep tub and separate rainfall shower. The water pressure is ok from the rainfall head, and pretty minimal from the hand held shower head. It's a good size shower, missing a bench or something to put your foot on if you want to shave your legs.
The balcony was nice. There's nothing to sit on and zero privacy, but views of the city were really wonderful. The towels were typical hotel towels, hard and scratchy. The bed itself was decent, maybe 3 star hotel worthy. I admit this all seems nit picky. We like nice things and are willing to pay for them, but we just didn't get that here. We'll opt to stay somewhere else next time in Chicago.

Get the hotel room with the balcony that wraps around It’s a must. The views are amazing. The room was spacious and bathroom had a really good soak in tub. I just wish the balcony had outdoor seating at least folding chairs to put back. The hotel is walking distance to the river walk and the “bean”. The hotel restaurant is delicious! I would stay here again!
Great location, sad about the room :(

Fabulous location, incredible iconic building but very disappointed with the room - stained carpeting, desk that was missing pieces out of the finish, shower with nonfunctional hand held portion, and a comforter with all the filling lumped in the center of each baffled square. They really shouldn’t be putting guests in this room - 1301 just in case you’re assigned that one!
The pool and terrace are beautiful but weirdly unwelcoming. Ridiculous tiny scratchy towels, a terrace bar that could be amazing but has virtually no drink options (ran out of soda water?). Seems like they just don’t care about the guest experience.
The potential is there - hope someone with a vision takes charge of this hotel!

My hotel room looked like a crime scene. The carpet was disgusting and stained. The furniture was stained and/or broken. It was so bad I considered staying at my bosses condo to escape. I was willing to be seen in pajamas by the guy writing my checks as an alternative to sleeping in this space. Let. That. Sink. In.

This hotel is not fresh or delux. We booked an ambassador suite and our room had a dirty rug, food and debris on the ground, and mildew growing in the shower. More than half of listed amenities were missing. Pool was cold. Do not pay for an upgraded balcony—it’s tiny and no chairs. Air conditioning is not strong. I brought the concerns to front desk. They refunded the wi-fi fee—which is good since the wi-fi doesn’t work at the pool. In this day and age dirty should not be tolerated. The location isn’t really convenient to shopping, just millennium park. There are so many fabulous hotels i Chicago, pass on this one.
