No table available for travellers who've booked a room? Shame........

It's a bit off the beaten track, so when we arrived tired and hungry at 6 o'clock we never for a minute thought we couldn't eat there that evening! Apparently no tables available and no room service offered!
The room was very smart, very large, very country house, large fireplace, tartan seats, a large mirror over a desk but the lamp next to it had inadequate lighting in it you could barely see your face in it. The bathroom was a completely separate room with a handle so close to the door when l close it l nearly trapped my finger between. The mirror above the sink was big and bright but the nearest shelf for toothbrush, toiletries etc was the windowsill next to the toilet! The very flashy stand alone bath and large shower were beautiful, but down three steps with the fire escape door in between for the whole floor, but then l don't suppose you'd care if there was an actual fire, you'd just want to get out! also it must be difficult to put in very modern facilities for every room in a big old building like that.
Facilities okay, just things that seem small, but do matter, but it was a beautiful room to stay in, spoilt by being unable to eat there in the evening. (We ended up getting back into our car and driving down to a shopping area with a Beefeater restaurant there!) There should be something on the application when you book so you can tick you want to book a table perhaps?
An Absolute Shocker!

The SHH succeeds in dragging Fawlty Towers kicking & screaming into the 20th Century!!!! Everything appears to be a problem, the whole place seems to be run for the convenience of the staff and not the customer. Rules & regulations abound, the atmosphere is uptight rather than relaxing. An inefficient and disinterested team, keen only to blame issues on the always-absent management.
Genuinely the worst service I have received in the last 5 years…. Come with a sense of humour!
Wonderful Stay In The Beautiful Cotswolds

Firstly can I just say I am glad we did not rely on some of the reviews to chose whether to stay here. Our two nights were perfect.
The hotel is decorated traditionally in vibrant colours with lovely upholstered chairs. Reception checkin was a breeze, met by friendly staff. Our room (45) did not disappoint either. Beautiful decorated apart from a bit of paint flaking off skirting board in the bathroom - easily sorted.
We ate in the Garden Room two days running for our breakfast and from The Garden Menu. I recommend Cotswolds Sausage sandwich with the chunky chips….excellent!!
Overall staff friendly and professional… Did not have chance to use the spa as fully booked but great addition… Afternoon teas looked amazing too.
Highly recommend a stay here great price! 😊

We were made to feel very welcome. We asked for a ground floor room which we were given. Very large room and bathroom with shower and bath. Beautiful garden to sit in.. a good variety of food available for breakfast. Close to Cirencester.

Given Room 32 which reeks of some sort of chemical or mold like smell.
Avoid this room at all costs .
Bed making a joke .Generally stale odours in corridors and dining room. Reception unable to help post a letter nor print a sheet. Basically unhelpful.
Dining staff helpful and pleasant .
