ESTE HOTEL USA TÉCNICAS DE VENTA ABUSIVAS.

Viajamos en familia (yo, mi esposa y mis dos hijos de 3 años) a visitar Cotswolds y nos alojamos en este hotel. En el check-in, pagamos las 7 noches que nos íbamos a alojar por adelantado (688 GBP) y, sin nuestro consentimiento, constituyeron además una fianza a su favor y en contra del límite de nuestra tarjeta de crédito por 1.288 GBP adicionales, quedando nuestra tarjeta de crédito sin casi límite, obligándonos a funcionar con cash y a pagar coche de alquiler, comidas y gastos varios por otros medios diferentes a la tarjeta de crédito. Esta fianza se constituyó SIN NUESTRO CONSENTIMIENTO EXPRESO, sin firmar ningún documento. Esta técnica es abusiva, se garantizan un pago de algo que aún no se ha consumido (desayunos, comidas, cenas ...) y, en nuestro caso, nos dejaron casi sin límite en nuestra tarjeta de crédito, con dos niños de 3 años y a más de 1000 kilómetros de nuestra casa. ¿Considera este hotel que todos los que se hospedan van a marcharse sin pagar? ¿Considera que todos sus clientes son potenciales estafadores para hacerles consignar una fianza tan elevada y sin su consentimiento?
Nuestra protesta fue enérgica contra el empleado, y nos explicó que era la política del establecimiento y ya no conseguimos enterdernos ni que escuchase nuestra protesta ni el inconveniente que generaba tal prenda tan lejos de nuestra casa, estuvimos a punto de poner una denuncia en la policía y pedir el libro de reclamaciones pero no lo hicimos, era nuestro primer día de vacaciones en familia y sólo queríamos paz.
Esta técnica es denunciable y es ilegal, una sobregarantía que sólo genera desconfianza. Y digo que es ilegal cuando se da el caso de que no exista consentimiento por escrito por parte del cliente donde se especifique este acuerdo. A todos los efectos es un contrato de prenda y debe acogerse a la legislación vigente, cosa que en este caso no se produjo al no haber consentimiento.
¿Qué se consiguió por parte de este establecimiento?... Nuestro enfado y que no gastásemos ni una libra más en este establecimiento, todos los desayunos, comidas y cenas las realizamos fuera del hotel.
Viajamos mucho en familia y desde hace 3 veranos siempre al Reino Unido, nunca nos había pasado esto y esperemos nunca más nos vuelva a pasar. Nos vemos en la obligación de escribir esta opinión en defensa de todos aquellos potenciales víctimas de esta técnica de venta totalitaria y abusiva. Este hotel, nunca más. Quien no se fía no merece confianza.
Por contra, y a diferencia de esto sucedido, debemos admitir que el hotel es precioso, tranquilo y acogedor, con un jardín estupendo, con mucho espacio para aparcar. Gozamos de un trato impecable, contando con la amabilidad de todo el staff. Hubiese sido perfecta la estancia si no hubiese sucedido el engaño contado anteriormente.

Where to start? I have never received such appalling service from a hotel. The whole stay was a disaster. I even felt it necessary to email the hotel afterwards to explain by concerns. I then received an extremely rude reply from the manager. Ironic given that they had asked me to send my feedback in.
We arrived to find the reception area in a state of disrepair. The carpets were frayed, the ceiling was stained from a water leak. (When I pointed this out I was told that it had only been there a day. My husband is a builder and feels it had been there for weeks.) The staff at check in were rude and unhelpful. The state of the hotel only got worse as we walked through the corridors and into our room. The whole building needs a total refurb. Given the price of the rooms, I do not expect such shoddy decor. Our room looked like it was last decorated in the 80s, faded phones, beds and carpets that need replacing and a bathroom that was not clean. It was anything but luxury.
We then went to have a drink in the garden which is just as run down; the grass needed cutting, it was full of weeds, furniture needs either replacing or repairing.
At dinner, there were tables of more than 6. They were also extremely loud, drunk and disruptive. Not exactly a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere to enjoy a meal. Some of the kitchen facilities were apparently out of action, therefore providing us with a reduced menu. However, we were not offered anything to compensate for that. Appalling given that we had paid for our food as part of the room package. The food itself was hit and miss. My husband had to send his steak back. he was then questioning in a very abrupt manner by the restaurant manager. Terrible service given that it was there mistake. When I pointed this out in my email the reply said, " I am glad the team rectified the steak in the best way they could." They did not at all.
Breakfast was horrendous. Again, this was included, so I was shocked that we were offered nothing. The best part was in fact the toast.
My advice - do not stay here. Horrendously overpriced and terrible service. Even once we had left.

Amazing afternoon tea in a beautiful setting, the atmosphere was great and the staff were so attentive
The tea arrived and wow was absolutely delicious, my friend is a vegetarian and this was noted with the produce
The sandwiches were amazing especially the egg and cress, the scone was so light and yummy , good amount of jam and cream , with 2 small pieces of cake one of which was carrot cake to finish off with a lemon posset which was a complete palate of zing.
Amazing can’t fault any of it the hotel is beautiful so quaint.
Can’t wait to go back

We booked direct for a deluxe room, having pointed out at the time of booking I loved the look of the bathrooms/baths for a relaxing few days, we arrived into a room with only a shower (room 10). It’s an old building and the floorboards above were exceptionally noisy, it sounded like the people above us where doing a dance class.... at 11pm and 7am. I then spoke to the lady on reception who went above and beyond and upgraded us to the bridal suite (room 8) with roll top bath the following day, for our last two nights! This room we couldn’t fault!
The breakfast was wonderful, as are the waiting staff. The hotel itself just needs a little more TLC, and we must be honest and say it is more of a 25 minute walk into town... we are two young people and to say it’s quicker, you would need to be jogging... We did enjoy our stay, Thank you.

Had a wonderfully relaxing weekend break here and it was faultless from start to finish. Every single member of staff was friendly, helpful, cheerful and attentive. Had the same excellent service at reception, in the bar and in the restaurant. Our room did not have a view but that didn't bother us at all as the bed was comfortable and the facilities clean and well appointed. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and each course was superb - absolutely delicious, as was the breakfast the following morning. We heard some people complaining and could not understand it at all as there really was nothing to complain about! We will definitely be back. Thank you for a fabulous stay.
