Nice, Quiet Pension
Opinión escrita el 22 de Enero de 2018
Helenenwall is a small pension located in an older, quiet, residential neighborhood in Deutz. It is across the street from a small park. We felt very comfortable on the street at night. It is two blocks from a tram stop, which arrives at the Deutz-Messe train station after one stop and , in the other direction, arrives at Heumarkt after two stops.
The furniture and fixtures are traditional as you would find in an older, small pension. The pension is clean and neat. There is no elevator. Our on-line reservation and check-in were easy, and we received information we needed. Over our stay, the staff were quiet, answered all our inquiries, and engaged in pleasant conversation when approached.
Our room was at the back of the house. There was a small window in the bathroom and a small window in the bedroom. The bedroom was a good size with a double bed, bed quilt, table, and two chairs. A bottle of water was on the table. There was a lamp on each side of the bed and an overhead light. The room had a cabinet with doors and a shelf for clothing and had a television. Very good radiator heat in the bedroom and the bathroom. Everything was clean.
The bathroom was also a good size. It had a double sink, a bath tub with a hand held shower fixture, and a hair dryer. Two large towels, two small towels, a floor mat, liquid soap, and shampoo were provided and were sufficient.
The neat breakfast room has three tables, seating about 10 people. The food comprised the usual items found in German pensions ... cold cuts of meats and cheeses, some fruit, bread, hot and cold drinks, boiled eggs if requested, etc.
There is a small room with a computer available to guests, located one landing up from the ground level. It has drinks and snacks for purchase. In this room is a door to a terrace at the back of the house which has chairs and a table.
There was a small patch of mildew in the tile around the bath tub; otherwise, however, our room and the overall appearance of the pension indicated cleanliness was maintain throughout. The pension compares favorably with other pensions we have used in Koeln.
The pension is located a short walk from the street named Deutzer Freiheit, which has many bakeries, restaurants, and other stores serving the residential community.
When we are next in Koeln, we would stay again in this pension without hesitation.
Cheap old furnished pension with good location

We were looking for some reasonable priced accommodation while staying in Cologne since the prices were really high. We found this hotel and I have to say that it's location is really good. The room is old furnished but clean. The problem was that we found mold in the shower. All the other services like breakfast were with high quality.
Quiet and homey

Very close to the river, bridges and busy centre, but in a very quiet area. We rented the apartment on the top floor with a great view. Everything we need was in the kitchen. The only complaint was that you cant shower more than 5 or so minutes, then the water pressure is basically gone.
Quiet stay a bit out of the busy buzz

We spent two nights in this B&B. The room was a bit old-fashioned and small but offered all we needed. The breakfast tasted good and had enough choice for many tastes. Friendly and a bit shy owner. Certainly a good place to stay if you wish to be a bit out of the busy crowd in the center.
Clean - good breakfast - dated rooms - reasonabe priced

We spend a few days in Cologne and this was our B&B for the first night. The check in took good 15min but there were no problems whatoever. There is a car park under a bridge some 100m away - 3Eur a day and from 6pm it's free. A tram station (2 stops to the city center / Dom / Heumarkt) is right next to the car park. The rooms were quite dated a bit to tiny but very clean. The TV was a nice extra. WiFi was 5Eur for that day and the signak in he room (3rd floor) was good. The continental breakfast was the highlight: fresh bread rolls and croissants, muesli, tee, coffee, organge juice etc. As usual for a B&B lunch/dinner or a bar is not available.
There was nothing to complain but we moved to an other Hotel ( Hotel Warsteiner Hof ) the next day - slightly better value ( desk in the room, bar and more space) for money.
Would stay again and if you just need accomodation - stay here.
