Disappointing Christmas Eve
This is not your typical nice Westin. The room was disgusting. There was a clothing sticker on the nightstand, a sock under the edge of the bed, and something gross on one of the couch throw pillows. The remote did not work, so we had to call for a new one. The heaters in the room were incredibly loud. The workers were not great, except for the valet when we first checked in - he was the only nice, helpful worker. The first time I stepped outside the front door to take out my dog (had to go across the street to find a place for her), I was immediately yelled at by people at the bus stop across the street (racist, sexist comments). I will never come back to this hotel.
So disappointed!
I had such high hopes for this place. I know it’s very popular for weddings and the lobby, ballrooms and exterior are gorgeous. When snow forced us to get a room on Christmas Day we decided to get a room at The Westin for these reasons. The employees were a 10/10–very nice at check-in and valet parking. However, when we got to our room I was so disappointed and I’m sure you’ll see why. It looks entirely different from the website pictures, is extremely dated and one of the smallest hotel rooms I’ve EVER had—and I’ve stayed in some smallll hotels in Europe! The furniture was oddly placed, as you can see in the photo below it would be impossible to watch the tv as the dresser is in the corner away from the bed. Will never stay here and have decided to switch to IHG after my second bad Marriott experience in Columbus in 2 months. Honestly hoping I can get a partial refund because I felt it was that bad.
Very Poor Amenities
Wanted to stay at a nice hotel for one night in Columbus. Made the mistake of staying here! Restaurant - closed; Bar - closed; Room Service - severely limited to 6 items, order by midnight, and PICK IT UP YOURSELF from the front desk!!! Ridiculous!!! Way overpriced for what you get in return.
Very disappointed
We expected a luxury hotel, with all the usual amenities. Yet, due to the pandemic, we were disappointed. The hotel had turned off all ice machines, removed all hair dryers, soaps, shampoos and extra toilet tissue from every room due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They did make all of these items available if asked. Guests had to go down to the front desk to get them. It would have been helpful if the hotel had emailed all guests about this, so that we could have brought our own.
Not your typical Westin
Before booking make sure you understand that this is not a typical Westin. It is from years ago and is a historic site, limiting what they can do. However they have not even tried to keep the hotel modern. Bathrooms have no fan, so shower once and it stays damp. Walls are paper thin, I could hear the woman next door talking on the phone. Parking is very expensive, but the Valet is good. Rooms are clean just out of date even for the boundaries that they have. If you like an old time feel, decent hotel. If you like a normal Westin or Marriott not for you
