Nightmare at Reception

Reviewed 29 january, 2017

I love Dalat, especially the people of Dalat, for they are so friendly and down to earth, let alone the people in Hospitality. However, upon checking in Royal Hotel, I was extremely shocked and disappointed by the behavior of an individual who is supposed to be either the owner or the Hotel Manager. I booked the hotel for 4 nights, with the deposit of 75%. Upon checking in, I was informed by the FO staff, who was actually quite polite, that there was no parking space available for our car, and that it was already informed when I made the booking. I was sure that I was not, because if they did, I would not book this hotel, for where would I park my car? At this point, a woman appeared out of nowhere and started yelling at her staff in front of all the guests, and she was so rude that I didnt even want to pick a fight, to the point that I just shrugged and wanted my deposit back and walked away for good. This lady can not work in this field, let alone she is a top management for sure. She said: let the guests walk, I dont care, It's Tet, we are alwasy full anway. Such an attitude, What a shame. I would never come back to this hotel, and I would not recommend to any of my friends or my guests in the hospitality field.

hotel fairly new. room was ok without any charm or feeling. as i wanted to stay longer, i asked to change room and see it. wow wow wow, the guy was completely drunk and just arrived in the room for him to vomit all over. disgusting. so when i came down to reception, i just told her and she was smiling without any excuses...she did not care at all. amazing and of course i would never stay there again

Do not recommend to any foreigner

I have been in many places in many places in Vietnam for more than 6 months now and i have i never accounted such a bad service. I must say that the location is nice but the rooms are just regular rooms that you will find in most hotel in that price range in Da lat. When i came in the hotel they show me two rooms with two different prices. I like one room and because a corner window in which you cannot see anything, they charge me more money. When i came in, i ask for if breakfast was provided and that is the reason why i pick this place. In the morning, i came up for breakfast to see all the stuff for buffet but i was told that no buffet was given today and tomorrow. The reason was that not enough people in the hotel. The staff provided me with two eggs and bread. Furthermore, i ask to rent a motorbike from the hotel, i knew the price of rental around the city since i have been in Da Lat for the 6th time in the last two years. They charge me 160 000 for the day. I know that the regular cost around was 130 000 but it is convenient to have it at your hotel. When i told them, that i knew about the price, they told me i was wrong and that i didn't know the price of rental. What they didn't know is that i was here last week and had the same motorbike for that price. On top of that they make you sign a waiver in case of theft or accident which state the value of the motorbike. I didn't read the whole thing but it was fairly lengthy. I had the bad luck of misplacing the hotel key... we all know that when you are busy sometimes you look for stuff. Well the staff was very quick to tell me that i would have to pay 200 000 for replacing this plastic card.. I try to explain to them and have a conversation with them about all this topics in various ways. They said that they will speak with the manager which they never did up until now.. In conclusion, since i know this area and hotels around here really well, you are much better off at the Best Western, they have a fantastic buffet in the morning and it is just across the river which means 4 minutes walking. They have a fantastic bath and hot water. They have a concierge service and they have a lot of various rooms available for rooms depending on your needs. Overall, this hotel the staff doesn't really speak English, they have learn Hotel English or some sort of English program to answer customers questions. The only reason i know is because i worked for short period of time at the university and i have learned the various programs. The hotel has a look for the poor service and management makes it a 2 in my books.

Changed in 3 months..

Reviewed 5 april, 2016

Stayed in this hotel in December and gave it 5 stars.. 3 months later it only deserves a generous 3.. No one to carry the bags up the stairs or greet us.. (we'd been travelling for 12 hours from Laos) 7 PM in the evening and the very young man at reception got confused with rooms, passports, etc.. A shame, because I rather enjoyed this hotel first time around..

In the centre of Dalat

Really nice play to stay.. Paid a bit more for a bigger room overlooking the street.. Very comfortable, great staff, reception and house cleaners.. Central to everything, cafes, restaurants and walking around Dalat is fun..
