Nice place to stay

We stayed on 15th September 2021. The room we stayed in was a little tired and in need of sprucing up, but had everything we needed including A/C, a comfy bed, plenty of tea / coffee, the shower was hot and powerful and the towels were huge (hate those towels that don't meet in the front). Our room wasn't double glazed, I assume this is because it was located in the original part of the building, and we were woken up at 0630 by noise outside (sounded like empty bottles being transferred to a bin)
Breakfast was great. We were greeted by a super friendly lady called Michelle who made sure we had everything we needed. The breakfast itself was lovely consisting of bacon, sausage, egg, hash brown, beans and toast - a hearty start to the day.
Would we stay here again ? Yes, definitely.
I've only given 4 stars , but would give 4.5 if an extra half a star was available. Not quite a 5 as the room was tired.
One tip , when you do refurbish room 6 - ladies like a bigger mirror on the dressing table and a full length mirror when getting dressed :-)

Massive thank you to Ben & the team for hosting our wedding reception on Friday.
So many of our guests commented on how lovely the food was & the bar staff were superb too, regularly checking on us to make sure there was nothing we needed.
Several family members stayed the night & were made welcome when they arrived early to leave luggage before the wedding.
A perfect day - thanks all!
Has possibility but requires improvement

Absolute mixed feelings regarding this pub and I hope that our personal experience was a one off.
Pub is in a good location, we managed to get roadside, free parking for the night with no issues. Cute aesthetics, larger than it looks from the outside. Our room was at the rear overlooking the ally. Beds are comfy, room was clean, showers really lovely and roomy. We had breakfast, cooked breakfast was nice and there's good coffee.
Check in communication was poor. Booked by father in law, wasn't explained that need to be paid for on check in. Easily resolved, just unexpected on arrival.
Parking on weekdays/Saturday could well be more complicated than we experienced.
En suite toilets have the worst flush I've ever used!
Windows are single glazed and noise from outside is excessive. Regularly woken overnight from Saturday night drinkers (2 hourly, right up til 7am)
Breakfast muffins my wife had were a big thumbs down. She felt they tasted somewhat fishy (there was no salmon).
Service at breakfast. Questionable.
Now we did arrive 5 minutes early and it was not a warm welcome and in fairness the staff member did slightly warm across the 50 minutes we were down for breakfast.... But things like 'would you like juice' - which we took as an offer of general drink, are not the case and related to juice only (I'll sort that (coffee) in a bit, I'm just doing juices right now).
It wasn't the friendliest of services and the cup of tea that later arrived containing floating bits of white (? Gone off milk) was the final end to our stay.
Ultimately, has potential but not delivering on the basis of our stay.
Short Break to Harry Potter

Fantastic value historic pub with friendly staff and amazing breakfasts. Plenty of places to eat nearby or eat in. Absolutely perfect if you’re visiting the Harry Potter studios and don’t want an impersonal travelodge as it’s only 10 - 15 minutes by car. The c12 church across the road is great to visit too.
Would definitely return if we come back down this way.
Superb B&B! Great breakfast and lovely staff!

Visited for the night when visiting the Warner Bros studio tour, great location for this! Don’t let the no parking deter you, the high street public car park is super close and cost £3.00 for two days! The pub itself is lovely and you get a really warm welcome from the attentive staff! The room itself was exactly as advertised and a pleasant, comfortable place to sleep. Breakfast was amazing and nothing was too much trouble! The chef really nailed the poached eggs, best I’ve had in a long time!! Will definitely be back if I ever find myself in that part of the world again!
