Used to be a great place, but not anymore
I decided to stay here in May 2020 after first visiting back in 2009 or 2010. Back then, it was spectacular, but it has has gone downhill horribly. The balcony was filthy and the decor is tired. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. The pool area was unkempt, and all we could smell was cigarettes and marijuana. Lots of other patrons played loud, inappropriate music, and the pool deck music was much too loud. The tiki bar closed at 8:45 on a Friday night. I had to park my car across the street (while still paying to park), and then cross the pedestrian overpass that was filled with standing water and mold. The only positive things I can mention are the friendly front desk staff and the fact that they gave my kids their own beach balls as a welcome gift. I definitely will not be back, and I am disappointed that I spent the money I did.
We attended a wedding of our friends at The Shores Resort and Spa. The rooms were nicely appointed and very clean. The beds were comfortable. Service at the bars was excellent. The people at the front desk were friendly and efficient. The buffet restaurant had a very good selection of breakfast items. This is an upscale hotel well worth the fees paid.
Mixed Review-resort has potential but...
The hotel could be an amazing resort however the mix of clientele they are now staying here ruin the experience for the majority. Also, the reduction in staff allowed numerous guests to not follow their basic pool rules and complaints were mostly ignored. Smoking in and around the pool deck was unbearable at times and my children hated the smell. People throwing cigarette butts from their balconies. The amount of marijuana being smoked reminded some guests of Amsterdam. It was everywhere. Groups putting on adult themed dances and other not kid friendly things in and around the pool deck. I asked the staff this this mix of clientele was typical and was don't absolutely not. They stated people forgot how to act due to the virus and a reduction in room pricing as the biggest reason. I hope the resort returns to its former glory because it has so much potential. The walk out cabana rooms are the greatest. We loved sitting on our cabana and listening/watching the waves. We could watch our kids swim. We ourselves could swim and watch our kids rest in the cabana. Having a special needs child, the set up is perfect. After the first two days we discussed coming back in late June and getting two cabana rooms with some other family. That changed when the weekend came and wild parties started. The hotel has so much potential and could be amazing. We wanted to love it but then something could happen.
Weekend fun with friends
Enjoyed the hotel, beach, and pool while having fun in the sun with friend’s! I will definitely be back. Their restaurant wasn’t open or the tiki bar but that’s understandable under the circumstances. Nick at check in was awesome! Thank you
Great beach weekend getaway
Even with Covid-19, this is a great getaway and the staff ifs excellent and accommodating. It was a great reprieve and the location is fairly removed from the bustle of the boardwalk, yet you’re close enough to get there if you want to visit.
