We stayed at this hotel as it was close to two attractions we wanted to take our grandson to see while on holidays. The room was adequate, but only until the people in the next room started to argue and children spent hours running up and down the hallways. The walls are paper thin. Not a good nights sleep, glad to leave. Oamaru is soo pretty but will definitely stay in another hotel next visit.
Don't expect too much

Would only stay here again if it was the lowest cost. Dated facilities even in the newer part of the hotel. Certainly wouldn't eat in the restaurant again with limited choice and limited service... no staff to take food order, had to make food order at the bar.
Nice place to stay.

TripAdvisor fix your app!!! This review is from 2019 … In Oamaru for a few days with the family, our first time staying at the Brydone. The hotel is nicely located on the Main Street in Oamaru short walk from the Victorian Precinct & shops. The room we had suited our needs well, 2 adults & 2 young children... beds were comfortable, room was clean & bathroom was new. The restaurant within the hotel has an open fire, which in winter is very welcome. The food prices range from $28-38 for mains. Food is presented well and cooked nicely. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Now for the suggestions that need to be looked at; - the TV in room is dated, there were only 5 channels available & no USB ports. When travelling with young children (and being winter night) having SKY TV channels and USB ports available allow for children to be entertained when in room. I would suggest updating room TV’s at a minimum and adding SKY channels. - We ate at the in house restaurant, twice. The children ordered same meals both times and the second time left them virtually untouched. When we questioned why meals were different we were informed a different chef was working. Regardless, there needs to be some consistency with meals no matter who is cooking. Real battered fish is not frozen fish cocktails. Overall, we would stay here again...

Pretty shocking actually. We requested the Accessible studio as I have severe back problems and cannot get up and down stairs etc. We got to the motel to be told the car park was way around the back and because of issues they were having we would have to walk back and forwards from the car park at the end of the block to the entrance every time we went out, I thought okay not a problem as I can wait at the entrance for my hubby to bring the car around. I was then directed to our studio unit which was on the second floor with 2 flights of stairs to get to as the lift was not operating. I managed to get up the stairs in some discomfort only to have our room absolutely stink. I don't know what the cause of the smell was but it was very musty, mouldy and I am sure the room had not been opened for many a week. I am aware the motel is old but there are ways to keep an old girl functioning and smelling nice for potential stayers.

The perfect place to stay in Oamaru. A Victorian classic in a Victorian town. The spacious and comfortable rooms make any stay memorable. Handy to the historic district and local amenities makes this an excellent base to explore the town.
