Historic Building with Simple Accommodations...
Upon driving into this section of the town of Padron, one is not ready for the exquisite grand mansion that greets them as they drive through the gates from the main road. The grounds and common areas of the hotel are beautiful and one cannot help but feel like they are in for a pampered experience here. It is because of this that the rather simple decor of the rooms are a bit of a surprise. None the less, it is comfortable and quiet, and easy to get around from this location. It was rainy when we stayed here, so we did not get to enjoy the large pool.
Very pretty Hotel, almost like sleeping in an old castle. The room had a bathtub - shower, which was really important for me walking the Camino de Santiago. A hot bath in the evening was very helpful so that alone made the stay very pleasant. The restaurant was also great, really good food and great service.
This hotel/former castle or fortress is very nice. This would have received 5 stars, but our room had the tiniest of windows; hence, very little natural light and poor air circulation. The window was one of those that a cannon might point out of; hence the size. The food was fine for dinner and breakfast - nothing special, but acceptable. This was arranged by caminoways.com with whom we booked high end accommodations.
Comfortable and Quiet
We stayed here on day 5 walking the Camino. A plus for the kids was the pool. It has a beautiful courtyard and the hotel was quiet - which was nice after walking in 90+ degree heat all day with packs. The rooms were clean and spacious.
I should have asked for a different room!
We stayed here while walking the Camino, at first glance I thought the room was interesting, once it was night not so much, creepy room with barely a window and along Hall in the room that went no where, my error, I should have asked for a different room upon checkin. Everyone else in our party had great rooms with big windows and no freaky hallways. Breakfast was ok, crowded and no space for people to move, line up and wait. I am sure others loved this place, it made the hair on my neck stand up. It does have a nice chapel worth asking the front desk to open so you can see it. Dinner at the hotel was good.
