If cleanliness is a big factor in picking a hotel then don't stay here!
We arrived around 7pm with the hopes of staying the weekend at a nice, new clean hotel. Unfortunately that was not the case. Upon arrival I was informed that the girl working didn't know how to take cash. When I originally called to inquire about the hotel I was told I could pay with cash. Thankfully I had enough money in my accounts that I was able to use my card. It was an inconvenience as I had to move money around to get it to work out. However it was something that I could move on easily from so at the time it wasn't a deal breaker since it all worked out in the end. Once we got to our room we let the children watch tv for a bit and then we met up with family to go get dinner. When we got back to our room is when we really started to notice things. My husband noticed our toilet wouldn't flush. At the same time I was pulling the blankets back so the kids could crawl in bed and there was food IN OUR BED! Upon further inspection I found salt/pretzel pieces all over the floor under our bed/stand. We called the front desk and told them about the toilet not flushing and told them that housekeeping didn't clean our room and we needed clean bedding. We were told that we would have to go down to the front desk to get that stuff because she was by herself and wouldnt be able to bring it to us. So I had to change back into my clothes to go down and get everything. When I told her there were pieces of salt/pretzel in our bed she replied that there must have been kids in that room before and housekeeping overlooked it. How do you overlook that if you are properly changing the bedding and sweeping the floor?! She said that she would document it so they could look into it. By this time it is around 10pm and im walking the hotel hallways with bedding (for two beds) and a dirty plunger. Yuck! I get up to the room and change the sheets while my husband plunges the toilet. My husband plunged the toilet for 30 minutes before finally giving up. It still was not flushing porperly but would eventually drain. We were too tired to deal with it any longer. We finally were able to settle in after 10:30pm with 2 very tired children. While we were there it came across our tv asking us how our stay had been. We put the sad face and it said that they would contact us soon about it. We have now been home for 5 days and haven't heard a thing from them. I don't usually post bad reviews but it seems they don't care because we told them twice already that something was wrong. They obviously aren't doing their normal cleaning let alone any special Covid cleaning. There was a thing in our room stating they service them once every 5 days. If you are occupying the same room for 5+ days fine but we were there for 3 nights and it was not cleaned prior to our arrival. They did not use garbage bags in the trash cans so there was no way for us to empty them. Our garbage was full the whole time we were there. We had to put everything out in the hallway for them to empty it. I only saw 1 housekeeper (from Fri PM until Mon Am) until our last day there then there were a bunch of them and the one made a remark about her working because "it was cleaning day". We took the kids to the pool a couple times and it was not cleaned the whole time we were there. Or at least it wasn't cleaned very well. The table had the same spots on it. There was a towel on the floor in the pool area one evening and the next morning we went swimming again and it was still there. The last time we went swimming there were no towels so we had to wait for some to be brought in. My husband and I both agreed that we will not be staying here again. Its such a bummer because this hotel is new and could be very nice but if housekeeping doesn't do their job properly then it will go down hill very fast. We should not have to plunge the toilet or change the sheets and as a previous housekeeper myself I would be embarrassed to put my name on a card saying I serviced a room that I really didn't service. When I stay at a hotel I leave our room as presentable (as possible) as I can to make it easier on the housekeeper upon checkout and I tip them well. However this service was not worthy of a tip and I couldn't even clean up after ousrselves because our garbage was overflowing and there were no bags.
Clean hotel in Lancaster
We stayed 1 night and had a pleasant time. Check in was smooth. We had a top floor room with a view of the farm fields. What a beautiful sight. The was clean and slightly smaller than most hotel rooms. The bathroom was a nice size. All bathroom amenities were in a pump including the hand soap and body lotion. The room coloring was kinda bland for me. Gray walls with red accent lamps and some strips on the furniture and window coverings. The black out blinds did a great job blacking out the morning sun. 24 hour coffee and tea in the lobby. There is a small snack shop with the basics- water, soda, candy, a few freezer foods for the microwave and some ice cream. Breakfast was you pick grab and go style. Choices were cereal, yogurt, muffins, breakfast bars and English muffins. No fruit. There are many stores and fast foods choices in the area and a half mile to Dutch Wonderland. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.
Great staff great stay
Really nice hotel. Clean and a great very nice and helpful staff. Rooms are a bit on the small side, think NYC size but that is hardly a knock. The rooms are well appointed and have everything you need. Great location as well. Stayed here as it was a “team” hotel for a soccer tournament. It was my first experience with the Avid brand and will definitely consider this brand again in the future.
Love the beds!
For me it’s about three things.... Bedding~coffee~cleanliness. This hotel has all three. The coffee is so fresh, it’s some of the best. Rooms are super clean, so impressive The beds are really comfortable and the pillows are perfect. Good job Avid! Keep up the good work!
Clean Hotel
We chose this hotel while visiting in Lancaster due to its newness. We wanted a place that would have a better chance of being clean during the pandemic and this one was a good choice. Based on prior reviews we asked for a room away from the highway and had no highway noise. Our bed was very comfortable and we liked that they had pillows marked "soft" and "firm". Breakfast was good all things considered. They had hot Jimmy Dean sandwiches individually wrapped under a warmer as well as other individually wrapped items such as bagels, muffins and more. They also had bananas when we were there. As others have stated, the coffee was so much better than usual. It was ground while you waited and they had both decaf and regular options. We will definitely stay here again when in the Lancaster area.
