Great wee place

Reviewed 9 november, 2022

Booked a double room fir a wee city break. I love the cowgate area and found this hotel perfect. Although the music can be heard through the triple layer window system, I didn't find it that bad. No different to sleeping by a busy road. If you feel effected by music, wee earplugs would do the job. Steve at reception (9 Nov) was mega. We will definitely be back. His customer service was the icing on top. We travelled at the start of a mild autumn and had a room on the 3rd floor. The air system I think is heat only and wouldn't go below 21 degrees. Also, no windows are openable at that height, for safety I think, so we found the room really stuffy with no air circulation. That's my only issue though, and the reason it's not 5 star. Room was spotless, liked the complimentary wee teacakes, the style of the hotel is right up our street. The breakfast looked amazing - we seen it everyday but didn't eat as we had alternative plans but it certainly looked mega. The 3 sisters bar is quite cool, but we preferred the Brew Dog next door. A wee 2 minute walk up Old Fishmarket Close sees you plopped right out on the mile. Perfect. Will be back

Great wee hotel. John at reception was the best ! He was so helpful , nothing was a problem ! Breakfast was lovely too and all good value for money in the heart of Edinburgh. We were st a wedding and came back late , the nightclub noise was noticeable so be aware of that !

Great hotel

Reviewed 8 october, 2022

Really nice quirky hotel, our room was great, was concern about being so close to a pub, but even as a light sleeper I was not disburbed. The shower was amazing!Great location, with it being so close to the royal mile but it says parking, but they have a deal with a secure car park which is a 15 min walk away. Would have been good to know about it before arrival so we could have prebooked in advance.

Friendly Staff but can be Loud

Reviewed 29 august, 2022

We had a large room which was excellent for our family. The first room we stayed in was loud (Room 208) at night. Fortunately, our next room (Room 202) that we moved to was larger and much quieter. The shower is amazing with the rain water nozzle overhead. Having two sinks was nice also. The TV is also large and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast is good (not great) with eggs and smoked salmon, but was sat up late a couple of mornings. As you can read from other reviews, there is a nightclub venue next door that can be loud depending on the room you get. The rooms have double-paned windows and heavy curtains, but certain rooms can be loud at night so the hotel gives out earplugs. The hotel location is good for quick access to the Royal Mile and most other locations in Edinburgh. There was a strike by the people who collect garbage, but hopefully that will be fixed soon. Overall, if you can find a room that is quiet, but hotel can be a good choice especially if you are trying to save money.
