My wife and I travelled from Tulsa to Chicago last week. We were accompanied by our two daughters, and one of our daughters two sons. The boys are 8 and 12. So, our travelling party existed of people from 8 to 75, a wide spectrum of ages to appeal to. The Holiday Inn Edwardsville succeeded in taking care of each and every one of our group. The kids wanted to swim...and the pool at the hotel is very nice, and the hours that it can be used was perfect for our needs. The gym was small, but adequate for me. The rooms were very nice and very clean. The entire hotel was extremely well maintained, and the staff were ALL extremely friendly and professional. My wife had a couple of needs before we checked in, called the front desk while we were travelling, and our "needs" had been taken care of by the time we arrived for check in! The breakfast bar was extremely good, and the breakfast room attendant was excellent. Three of our group have gluten problems. The lady running the breakfast facility was very cognizant of the situation, and was great in providing great options for our gluten intolerant members. We loved our stay, and hope to stay at the Edwardsville Holiday Inn Express...sooner than later. Very good hotel!

Lovely Stay

This hotel is always my first choice when visiting the area due to its comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast, and excellent location. At check in this time there was a problem with our rooms being ready due to a systems issue that had occurred just prior to check in time. The very kind and accommodating staff, however, still took care of our party of 5 (which needed 3 rooms) so that we could shower, change, and arrive at our family wedding by 5 pm. The staff was both courteous and understanding, and gave us a generous discount because of the rooms not being available in a timely manner. We very much appreciate the help of front desk staff Tiffany, Josh, and Jared, as well as all of the behind-the-scenes staff members who worked hard to alleviate the issue affected our rooms. When I see this type of customer service in a crisis, it solidifies my loyalty to the brand. Great work and many thanks, everyone!!!

(Update from 2018 & 2021 reviews) We've stayed at Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Edwardsville, IL multiple times.. most recently for 2 nights (a Friday & Saturday). ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: Arrived around 4:00 PM; took < 10 minutes. ROOM As a Spire Elite member, I emailed the General Manager Cathy Luttrell requesting a room upgrade. She responded very pleasantly. We were assigned a 1 King Suite, room #219. THANK YOU for the upgrade! • Amenities: Keurig, microwave, mini refrigerator, sink. The suite had a small table w/ two chairs to eat the dinner we brought with us. Not to mention a couch & the usual desk. • Bath: Plenty of hot water & good pressure. • Bed: Very comfortable! One reason we love IHG. • Cleanliness: One of the cleanest hotels we've stayed in recently! Props to housecleaning crew Chris & Danielle. Looked like they even polished the wood. And the front desk actually asked if we wanted full housekeeping services. We said yes & left a tip on the table the next morning. We returned to our bed made, towels replenished & trash emptied. • Decor: Standard/nice • Heating/cooling: Room stayed comfortable. We kept the temp at 67° which kicked the heater on every 2 minutes or so. • Sound: Sadly, this ended up being a BIG issue. The guests above/next to/across from(?) us were running/stomping for hours on end, so unfortunately I had to call the front desk. It continued until approximately 11:30 PM. I was then woken up to the same noise bright 'n early the next morning. Despite speaking with the front desk three more times, the noise continued the following the night. This time it sounded like they were bouncing a ball, running up & down the halls & slamming doors. It lasted until approximately 1:30 AM & started back up at 7:45. I don't blame HIE for the noise, but it still kept us from having a restful trip. In fact, we left exhausted. • TV: Worked as expected; great selection of channels • View: N/A • WiFi: Worked well using my laptop BREAKFAST: I was so tired due to the noisy guests that I chose to "sleep in" & skipped breakfast. My husband grabbed a bowl of cereal to go. COVID-19 RESPONSE: Plexiglass, hand sanitizer & disposable masks at the reception desk. Staff wore masks; I'd say half the guests did. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Excellent GROUNDS: N/A LOCATION/PARKING: Free parking OTHER ACTIVITIES: We did not use any other hotel amenities. Would I recommend/stay again? Yes, & we plan to fall 2022. (If it wasn't for the continuous noise, I would have rated our stay 5 stars)

Great Hotel with exceptional staff

Booked a room at this hotel for a quick getaway over Christmas break for the kids to swim. The rooms were clean and nice. Xavier (I believe was his name) was wonderful, we had a little problem and he went above and beyond to find a remedy. The maintenance man was great also. Would stay here again.

There are good things about this hotel but check in / room avail was poor I was part of a bicycle group I arrived we had bicycled 50 miles in about degree arrived at 3 pm to find out our room was not avail "but check back in 1/2 hr" and again and again we got our room at 7:07 pm I realize there are some issues with post covid staffing BUT there was no water fountain and were were charged for bottled water while waiting and had to sit around for 4 hours in sweaty clothes with expectation our room would be avail shortly. The mgmt should have taken 2 uncleaned rooms they knew would not be avail until after 7 pm and turned them into shower / cleanup rooms and setting real expectations of when the rooms would be avail. I am upset at poor treatment by mgmt and offered nothing and paying for bottled water during my 4 hr wait. Since I am writing one of the few post covid reviews . Now I am going to step back and review as if I didnt wait 4 hrs The hotel business center computers are using out of date operating systems and would many times fail for lack of memory after 5 min of use . Rooms were quiet cpap easy to plug in by bed, staff was great except to not properly setting expectations for room avail time breakfast was slow but good My advice if booking summer 2021 is get a room avail guarantee with some kind of rebate if it isnt Once mgr tells me she has solved checking delay issue I would stay again hopefully at a discount for my 4 hr wait It has great access to bicycle trails and a number of restaurants are across the street Friends staying in next door hotel did not experience 4+ hr check in delays
