Have stayed in other hotels in the region and this compares very well. Handy location right in front of the historic Aqueduct so great photo opportunity straight away. You can walk up right along the aqueduct into the old town but it is a steep walk up to one of the higher parts of the town. Easier to walk a very short bit up the road to the next crossing then along the other way into the town. There is a petrol station and a spar right beside the hotel with a restaurant above. The hotel has a large cool reception area and the reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. The rooms were clean and of a good standard. The facilities are good and the communal areas are nice and bright and comfortable. No restaurant, it only caters to large events but you can eat from a snack menu at the bar attached to the hotel. Although there is an access from the hotel, the bar is not part of the hotel and can close early in the evening. The bathroom is good, the shower water does go out onto the floor and the light is on a short timer so expect the light to go off and leave you in total darkness. Waving your arm about switches it back on. While in the shower you have to wave your arm outside the shower which is not convenient. Breakfast is a continental buffet with warm bacon and small hotdog type sausages. A bit different and fairly basic but enough to get you going in the day. Although very impressive view, many of the rooms don't face that view. We spent much of the time out exploring so that wasn't an issue. Would definitely go back.
Comfortable but basic hotel in handy location
This is a clean and comfortable hotel. It’s pretty basic in what it provides. No in room services, standard but limited buffet breakfast and whilst there is bar attached to the hotel this is not part of the hotel (they do provide some decent bar food in the evening). Coincidentally, those that run the bar also run a tuk tuk around Elvas and you should avail yourself of this service. Off street parking is available (across from the hotel under the aqueduct) but be careful as there are two parking areas and one looks like it has to be paid for. Its location is just a short walk outside of the old town (maybe 10-15 minutes). Next door is a service station and supermarket.
Late Arrival, Friendly Welcome
I booked this hotel underestimating how long I would be engaged visiting monasteries and castles all day. Though I arrived late, I was greeted warmly and with great information for finding restaurants and exploring the town. There was free parking across the street, which was much appreciated. My room was nice, air-conditioned, clean, and comfortable. It was about a 15-minute walk to the old town, but one nice thing about this hotel is that it's right by the town's incredible aqueduct. Breakfast was included and was decent. Wi-fi was fine, no problems. There was a pool as well, but I didn't have the time to use it, unfortunately.
Comfort and convenience
Highly recommend this small hotel located opposite the aqueduct of Elvas. Hotel is not luxurious but offers renovated rooms at a reasonable price and with a good breakfast. Ample parking is free just opposite the hotel. Perfect base for discovering Elvas. Parking is difficult in the historical city centre. Easy to walk to the centre - albeit uphill.
Best Location to visit this word heritage town
The parking is opposite the hotel. where the water viaduct can be seen. From here you can walk uphill and visit ancient Elvas. The hotel is more than comfortable and the rooms are clean and offer good value for money. Not to mention the excellent breakfast included in the hotel price.
