Friendly, good value
Great week here. Lovely staff, good food and service. Base for hiking in the area. Super location by the river and small village opposite but no shops or other restaurants,. Comfortable beds. Open air swimming pool and nice garden area.
Pretty setting, great outdoor space
We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a trekking trip in the Pyrenees. Rooms were fine and clean. The lack of air conditioning is annoying but the celing fan and big windows were fine until the air cooled by early morning. The beautiful garden by the small river in the back is a wonderful place to hang out and there are tables and comfy lawn furniture. A new pool is being built right on the grounds and currently a pool next to the property. From the tables on the front patio there's a nice view of the old tower on the hill above. There's a generous buffet breakfast and the dinner menu meal was nice. I loved the gazpacho and the salmon rolls, the baked fish and ice cream for dessert. Nice staff.
Great family restaurant
Everything is possible here. The owners try everything to make you happy and comfortable. Clean, large room. Great bathroom. Large bed and balcony. We were close to the high pyrenees what we wanted. Plenty to see and do around hotel and surroundings.
Noisy but clean and friendly
I'm not sure what it is about people who are in the countryside, nothing but the flow of the river, the trees to keep them company... and then they stomp about, bang doors and generally make lots of noise to make up for it! The problem is that the walls in this hotel are paper thin and you can hear everything from next door (and the door after that). I would not advise staying here if you are a light sleeper. Or ask for a top floor room! The hotel is fairly basic but comfortable and very clean. Any issues or queries were quickly ironed out or dealt with by staff, who were helpful and friendly. It made for a nice stay! They really did go the extra mile. There is a lovely garden area where you can sit and chill out. The pool is a little detached from there and has the feel of a campsite pool - no loungers and a bit unkempt. But a nice facility to have (we didn't try it, however). The breakfast is plentiful and of a nice quality. They offer alternatives for those who suffer allergies and intolerances. There are no other facilities in Escaló but there is a pleasant walk across the road through the old village which, from the top, offers gorgeous views. As another reviewer pointed out, the wifi was close to useless. But all in all, a nice stay if you're hiking or doing water sports in the area.
Very good value for money! Beautiful, friendly and good location!
The place is beautiful and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. We particularly appreciated the downstairs living room with the piano and cosy sofas which were lovely to sit down and read in after a long day of hiking (can only imagine how much nicer it is during winter time when the fireplace is burning...) Breakfast was also very nice, but dinner was excellent (order the soup and you are in for a surprise...), the cod fish was brilliant with the sauce that I hope to be able to recreate at home :) The only minus is the wi-fi which was not working properly while we were there (kept disconnecting and the reconnection process involves a more elaborate username and password).
