AmericInn in Fishers, Indiana

While the Inn appeared very clean, there were signs of deferred maintenance. I chose this place because of the pool and was advised upon check-in that it was closed for maintenance. I might have picked a different place had I known.

The hotel is very well located and easy off/on to I-69 not far from I-465. One restaurant located right next door but others certainly close and easy to get to. Attractive property and very clean both inside and out. Staff efficient and helpful. Room was terrific - very clean, comfortable, and nice size.
Lived up to it’s reputation....

We booked this hotel, because it was close to the Ruoff Music Center, but we knew that recent reviews were not the best (ex. bugs, dilapidated, etc.) So when we walked up to check in and my friends and I overheard a woman say “I’m just starting to get creeped out by this place because everything I touch is broken”.....We figured it would only go downhill from there and the excitement did not disappoint. The first room we walked in had a toilet that ran non-stop. When my friend attempted to fix said toilet, a piece broke off and she had to rig the chain to prevent said toilet from overflowing. When I approached the front desk about the issue, she informed me that they “had no maintenance” and “did you try to jiggle the handle?” She then gave us keys to a new room, which also did not disappoint. As we walked in the doorway, a string stench of cigarette smoke smacked our face. I walked over to open the window for fresh air, and there was no screen and it didn’t stay open on its own. After propping said window open with a 3-ring binder, 3 yellowjackets and a wasp flew into our hotel room. Acting quickly, I shut the door to prevent more of the hive from entering and promptly smashed 4 flying, stinging insects with a shoe. We decided to leave for the concert, and the beds actually weren’t too bad when we returned to sleep. All things considered, the hotel was the worst I’ve stayed at in 15 years. The only saving Grace was being able to give it the nickname of “The Americana”. Americinn.....? More like, Ameri-don’t.

Hotel was mostly clean and quiet, but did have insects and is a bit dilapidated. Was informed after arriving that hot tub was unavailable. Also, room wasn't ready when we arrived. Staff was friendly, but a staff member had parked their truck in the drop off area and it was never moved I noticed. This is very inconvenient for guests and tacky.

On a positive note, the front desk staff were friendly, helpful, efficient, and hardworking. Also, if you need to be on the north/northeast side of Indy, then the location of this property is great. I think the staff does the best they can to clean the surface of the common areas of the property as well as the guest rooms; however, the property and guest rooms are so run down that I don't know how they could even attempt to do a deep cleaning. The property is in immediate need of renovation.
The guest room we stayed in was DISGUSTING! The furniture and decor was so old. In my estimate, the room was probably last renovated in the 1990's. There were so many stains on the carpet, chairs, curtains, and lampshades. Also, everything was tattered. The wallpaper was peeling. The pillows weren't even pillows. They appeared to be some sort of folded foam. The bed was lumpy. The room smelled like decay. For about $120/night, I wasn't expecting the Taj Mahal, yet I was expecting something that was renovated more recently and not so incredibly run down.
