affordable and convenient
It is right across the Firenze Santa Maria Novella station (behind Burger king) so it very convenient for when you have to take the train to go to other places. train to the airport is also across the street. the building itself is old. what you see in the pictures is as is (minus the filter on the camera). they clean the rooms everyday. the sheets and towels though has that funny smell (that downy or fabric softeners could eliminate). the wash basin is too small so water splashes all over when we use it, also the faucet is wiggly i was kinda scared that it's going to get ripped-off. do not ever use the extra blanket on the dresser. i made the mistake of opening it intending to use it big mistake. it looks and smells like it has never been washed. it was dusty too. the elevator (lift) works and it is quirky like the kld lifts you see in old films. the receptionists (all 3 that we dealt with) were nice. the lady i met the first day (i dont know her name) was kind enough to let me into my room early (before the usual check-in time) since my room is ready. she did her best to explain everything and express herself to a non-Italian speaking/understanding tourist. the other 2 receptionist were pretty chill too. if you need a place to stay that is comfortable and affordable (with your own room and private bathroom) this is good enough. bring your own soap, shampoo etc. don't take anything from the fridge just buy your own water/pop/drinks from the grocery around the corner and it would be cheaper.
Great hotel, great location
I absolutely loved this hotel. The room is huge and the bathroom as well. The shower could be bigger but it didn’t bother me as much. The location is great - right near the train station and also very close to the city center. It was also very cleaned and the staff very nice. The elevator is quite squeaky but it is functional. I would stay there whenever in Florence. Totally recommend this hotel.
I stayed in this hotel for two nights with my wife and with my baby. Room was very big and had a bathroom in it this was my choise reason. Location of the hotel is perfect just 4-5 minutes to santa maria novella train station and 10 minutes to piazza duomo by walk. Breakfast was so so but astrid hotel is preferable
Not a bad hotel
A night mare to find from the bus station , even though it only 5 mins away , don’t expect a sign saying Astrid hotel , there is just a plaque on the wall of the hotel , which shares the building with a few other hotels , direction from bus station are ok , but if you come out of the wrong entrance of the station then your Iin Trouble , don’t expect the locals to help you , I am sure they srned you i. The wrong direction on purpose . Enter take more notice of the street it’s on and the number , that’s the way we found it ...the hotel is ok . Breakfast is ok also , but none of it is all that ....
Booked online and hotel did not honor price verified in writing with online booking and presented at check-in. Also bathroom had black mold on the walls which made the room also smell moldy, Small hotel. Breakfast was basic; on first day they had hard boiled eggs and yogurt which was not available on the second day. Location was convenient to train station.
