Stay here and play in their international chess tournament first week of July
I discovered this hotel when I found out about their annual FIDE rated chess tournament during the first week of July last year. I liked it so much that I came back again this year. The tournament is quite small (details on Vesus.org or directly from the hotel as the owner plays in it) but players come from different countries and there's a really nice atmosphere. You need a FIDE licence to participate. There's also a FIDE rated blitz tournament one evening. The hotel gives a special price for half board to all players and it's really worth it. The hotel is a bit old fashioned but it's clean, the beds are comfortable, there's a/c, a small fridge, a small TV, good Wifi and my room had a balcony overlooking the pool. The gardens are beautiful and the outdoor pool is really warm if a bit small. It's set back from the main road so it's quiet at night. You can sit in the bar by the lobby or in the gardens in the evening. During the day you can catch the bus into Forio or go the other way to different locations on the island. You can walk down a steep hill to Citara beach (sand and small pebbles) which is beautiful and hopefully catch a bus back up the hill to the hotel as walking back up is a killer. The hotel can call you a taxi if you need one and they arrive promptly. There's also a small car park at the hotel. The food is alright and the menu changes every day. If you want more gastronomic food try Ristorante Saturnino in Forio. All the staff in the hotel are really friendly and it's always a pleasure to stay there. Looking forward to next year's tournament.
A trick of end summer
Despite a misleading advertising, most of the rooms have no view of the see, bad taste furniture and are not comfortable at all. The staff is friendly but not worthy of a very expensive (162 euros for b/b) accommodation. We stayed with friends and all the three rooms were at standard of a one-star hotel, with a cost of a four star one....
Wonderful family hotel
Beautiful bouganvilla covered hotel near forio ischia. Wonderful atmosphere of old world charm. Excellent staff. Good food and clean comfortable rooms. Visited with a family group spanning three generations. All of us were charmed by this gem of a hotel.
Clean, friendly and great location
If you are looking for a friendly, clean, quiet hotel, this is the one. Nothing was ever any trouble, we had a family room which was cleaned daily and very spacious. Lots of choice at breakfast (although I'm not a fan of pastries and cakes every morning and this is the only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5). No big tour groups, seemed like a lot of Italians most of the time which we really enjoyed. Close to the beach and can walk into town (would advise a bus back, but we still managed to walk with two small children) Would definitely stay here again. Thanks for such a great stay!
For those who are looking for a friendly and cozy hotel in Forio, Villa Angela is the one. The staff is very friendly, the food is amazing and the service is really good. The waiters speak Italian, German and some of them speak English. The hotel environment is great, after dinner if you decide to stay around, you can join the bar which is located on the main floor. I also like the hotel location because you can walk from the there to the center of Forio where you find great restaurants, beaches and local stores.
