Island Seas was a great resort! Most of the staff were very helpfull and friendly. Due to Hurrican Dorian and Covid, the resort was a bit under staffed but not a deal breaker for us.
Security gaurd Frank was the best, any request we had he delivered on. He brought me aloe from his farm for my sun burn!
The beach is beautifull, great snorkling right at your resort especially at low tide.

A Month Stay at Island Seas Resort (June1-June 30, 2021)
Reviewed 30 June, 2021
We stayed in room 3015 for the entire month of June.
My wife was working remotely from our room during the work weeks during our stay. I was present at the beach or pool all day most every day. We usually ate breakfast and lunch in our room and dinners out someplace. For the most part, we were Island Seas resort rats for the month of June.
We found them welcoming. I'm confident I have credibility in giving an accurate review of the staff at Island Seas given that we observed them day in and day out for a month. We saw them interact with visitors at all times of the day. With people visiting for 4 days, 7 days, and locals using weekend passes. I certainly don't think we're overly needy people. But when we needed something, it always got fulfilled as soon as possible. Grand Bahamians have been through A LOT these past few years from Hurricane Dorian followed by Covid. They are ready to work and appreciate things opening back up more than you know.
A special thank you to the following staff:
Frank- What a special person. He's been at Island Seas for many years. He wears many hats. He goes out of his way to give that personal touch. This did not go unnoticed with us.
Adrian- He and a few other gentlemen whose names I don't know, were sweeping and organizing the large pool deck areas every morning at daylight. I was up early every morning swimming laps and saw this first hand. He also works security on the beach at times and supervised the pool area.
Germaine- The IT guy. We always saw him hustling around different areas of the resort. He went above and beyond to help my wife with a connectivity issue so she could work remotely -This was a requirement for us to be able to be there.
Dominique- She works the front desk. Always helpful. She can call you a cab and answer any questions you have. She juggled many responsibilities at once during times I was around the front desk waiting on rides or just passing through. She and others up there have lots of responsibilities.
Karol- She works in the kitchen at the resort restaurant, Sea Grapes. Always friendly.
Debbie in reservations. My wife found her to be very helpful with communication regarding coordination of our longer than usual 1 month stay.
Rico- Among other responsibilities, Rico is the driver for the resort. He can take you to Solomon's (the primary grocery store in Freeport) and to get your required Covid test when you're close to the end of your stay. This is a free service but tips are appropriate here. The resort sponsored taxi service does not operate on weekends. He is not your personal taxi driver but can take small groups to the Lucayan Marketplace/Grocery/Medical Pavillion.
Laundry staff- We always had fresh beach and bathroom towels/rags when needed. We re-used these for multiple days for environmental reasons. They work hard to have them available.
Yolanda is the person we owe a big thank you to for keeping the pool pristine. Please give her a shout out if you ever see her early in the morning. She is there cleaning the pool at daylight. She has often been there cleaning and treating the pool for hours and then gone to the next job before many ever get out of bed.
Beach: Lengthy stretch of beach that is secluded for the most part. Bright white sand and clear water. You can see cruise ships and freightors pass far in the distance. East of the resort is a jetty that's about a 10 minute walk away. It's called Silver Point. There is nothing for a 5 minute walk west until you get to a sea wall. From there, is a road that has several small eating/drinking establishments including the 2 Dollar Bar. Overall, this is an excellent stretch of public beach with very little other commerce either direction. Bernie's Tiki hut serves food and beverages a 5 minute beach walk to the east. A few other small establishments are a 10 minute walk to the west along the sea wall. The tides will affect your ability to walk distances along the beach. The beachfront resort area feels much bigger at low tide than high tide. But there is plenty of space and lounge chairs regardless. Adrian will be out there combing the sand each morning.
There are shade umbrellas available on the beach upon request. Adrian and crew will get you set up if you prefer one. No major restaurants are within walking distance. The Lucayan Marketplace, which is the primary straw market containing restaurants, shops, and vendors, is 3 km away.
Sea Grapes (restaurant/food service)
Located beside the pool and main hangout area. The staff served breakfast, lunch, and dinner to many. My wife frequently ordered fried conch and fries during her lunch break. The quantity of food for the price was actually the most generous we found on the island. We ate dinner inside Sea Grapes one night. Blackened fish was excellent. We ordered a desert called guava duff several times. You can eat inside the restaurant, but most ordered under the gazebo/bar area and staff brought food to them in disposable containers. This is very convenient if you prefer to watch kids playing or just be free to roam with friends.
OUR ROOM (3015)
Both window units along with ceiling fans kept our room cold even during the heat of the day. I was freezing cold several mornings which is what I wanted. You can control the temperature to how you prefer. Plenty of hot water in the kitchen and shower. All appliances worked fine. The kitchen is fully furnished with dishes. It includes refrigerator/freezer, microwave, electric stove, coffee pot, and dishwasher. The view is stellar. The balcony includes lounge chairs, breakfast table and chairs.
We enjoyed our extended stay on Grand Bahama Island. Island Seas Resort was a major reason for this. We will be back.

A home away from home...

I own at Island Seas Resort, and this year my cousin by marriage accompanied me for a week in April. Despite all the Covid restrictions and regulations, we enjoyed a wonderful week! We stayed in the two bedroom Diamond Suite, which is spacious, beautiful, and very comfortable.
Even though the resort isn’t back to full staffing due to the virus impacting the tourism industry, we were given the best attention and care as I have always experienced in my 14 years visiting Island Seas. The activities aren’t all available yet, and it was extremely quiet as far as guests go, but they anticipate that to be more back to normal soon.
Thank you to the wonderful Coconuts Bar bartenders, the staff in Seagrape Grille, as well as Rico, the hotel desk staff and everyone who keeps Island Seas up and running. (A special thank you to Tawari and Cheryl Rodgers for their friendship, love, and support as always!)
