Great B & B
Opinión escrita el 13 de Julio de 2021
Great location. Gail is very friendly and knowledgeable. We had Elizabeth Thorn Room. It was nice, but faces Baltimore Street, so does tend to be a little noisy. The breakfast each morning was good, plus they keep water and snacks in the sitting room for guests. There is also a small fridge for guest use.
very nice spot near the center of town.

Stayed for one night. Unfortunately it was raining and we did not get to enjoy the full downtown Gettysburg experience. However, I would stay here again. Bob, our host was very nice and helpful in acquainting us with the facilities. We stayed in the Tillie Pierce room, which was fine, other than the problem with the door sticking, which really should be fixed.

I travel a lot and stay at a lot of "haunted" B&B's and I must say this was one of my best experiences yet. Slept like a baby, the house is beautiful, and Gail and Bob went above and beyond! The breakfast was great both mornings and we had great conversations with the Innkeepers. Highly, HIGHLY recommended! Thank you for making our first visit to Gettysburg a memorable one!
1st B & B weekend getaway

Had a great stay at the Tillie Pierce House Inn. Checked in early without an issue, our Innkeeper was fantastic! We stayed in the Elizabeth Thorn room. Our room was clean and comfortable. We had a private bathroom. The inn was full but we didn’t notice, it was quiet (even facing the busy street) and rarely saw other guests. Breakfast was good. We came and went as we pleased. Free WiFi too! We had a great weekend and recommend a stay at this beautiful historic inn. Close to everything! 👻 🐈
Great Location, center of things.

We have been to Gettysburg many times, stayed at hotels with the kids, on our own a few times. But we are now empty nesters and liking the B&B stay. As a rule a quieter stay. We arrived later than standard check in-about 7:30 but I called when we were about 15 minutes away and there was no problem checking in. I debated about the packages that are offered. What I really wanted to do, wasn't quite listed so I took a chance and called the Inn and talked to Gail. I really wanted to surprise my husband with a private battlefield tour guide and just have a bottle of our favorite Gettysburg wine in the room when we arrived. Gail helped me achieve both.
We stayed in the Tillie Pierce room for 3 nights over Labor Day weekend. It was small, no chairs or tv. TV was in a sitting room across the hall. Bed was comfortable faced Baltimore Street and around 10 PM things got quiet outside and we had a quiet sleep all three nights. On street parking is metered, the Inn has parking in rear, some in a lot right behind the Inn and some additional parking across the alley from the Inn. Breakfast was not as elaborate as some B&B's we have stayed in but it got us off to a good start every morning. More of a buffet style. Eggs and bacon one morning, eggs sausage gravy and biscuits, last morning was French Toast. As always it is nice to chat with other guests over breakfast each morning.
The Inn is central to Steinwher Ave where there are restaurants, museums, the Cemetery and souvenir shops. The opposite direction is the town center (Chambersburg and York streets) and there are several specialty shops, restaurants and some satellite wine tasting rooms. Sadly most we couldn't do tasting at due to the COVID restrictions. You can easily walk either direction. The guide that Gail connected us with the for the battlefield tour was excellent.
Haunted? Well some say it is, most places in Gettysburg say they are. I guess it depends what you believe. There were some guests- aka- ghost hunters staying at the Inn but we didn't really talk to them about what they saw or heard. Our stay was quiet, didn't hear or see anything unusual. Our second night though, I was laying on my left side towards my husband and trying to go to sleep for the night. At one point it felt like something was up against my back. Not sure what to think.
Our stay was pleasant, quiet for the most part, a bit of mystery that second night and enjoyable. The private battlefield tour guide recommendation was excellent and we really appreciate Gail's input. He was very nice and told us about some other tailored tours he could do in the future. So we may just return and take advantage of that service again. A little disappointed we didn't get to meet Gail's husband who does living history as General Grant. But all in all our first stay at a haunted B&B in historic Gettysburg was good. Thanks Gail for helping me tailor our stay. You did a great job being sneaky so I could surprise my husband. Thanks so much.
