Reasonable - but room for improvement
we arrived at the Villa Linda and were promptly given our keys, our room was on the top floor with lovely views, my 3 adult daughters however were on the 2nd floor, given the advancement of the booking I was surprised that the rooms were not together, the check in manager advised that they were busy! the room that had been given to the 3 girls was massively cramped. However, our room on the top floor was relatively spacious. the room had a fridge, but sadly no drink making facilities, which was a real shame, as it would have made a big difference. the bathroom was spacious and water hot and good pressure. the view from the 6th floor was lovely, from the 2nd floor, not very nice. the bar in the foyer was not stocked and on the last day there was an issue with the hot drinks machine - i think this may have been serviced but not flushed through - I did mention it to a staff member, who didn't appear to address the issue. the breakfast was basic but plentiful and the maid came every day. all in all it was a decent hotel, but it is quite away from the main town, so a lengthy walk is in order as there is not much happening in the immediate viciintiy
We visited Villa Linda towards the end of our three week visit to Italy. We were warmly welcomed by Placido which was much appreciated after so much traveling. He even helped us park our car and during our stay, helped me with my Italian! The hotel is conveniently located close to the beach, many restaurants, and grocery stores. Enjoyed two wonderful meals at O'Neill's. Let the owner know what you are in the mood for and he will accomodate you! Reasonably priced as well. Another plus of this location is that it is a short walk to the bus stop where you can catch the local bus to Taormina, as well as the Hop On Hop Off Bus to many popular tourist destinations. Tip: there are two Hop On Hop Off type buses. Check schedules and pricing for both. Information is available at the bus stop. On two different days we took the Hop On Hop Off to Noto (a beautiful town,) Castemola, and the Godfather Tour. It is more economical to take the city bus to Taormina, just a couple of euros. Villa Linda is a lovely hotel. It has a large and bright dining room with an adequate selection for the included breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable, but could of used some updating. We did have a lovely view of the ocean. Although there is an elevator, our room was conveniently located at the top of a short stairway. This was our second stay in Giardini Naxos. We would stay again!
Great base for exploring
Highly recommend Villa Linda Hotel. Great base for exploring surrounding area. Staff are really efficient and friendly and hotel is spotlessly clean. Only ate here at breakfast but that was fine, same every day but sufficient to get us started. Don't forget to visit O Neil's restaurant and Cocktail bar beside it , both just a few minutes walk away!
Good value small family run hotel
Stayed here last week in July which was very hot. Thankfully the aircon was excellent. The hotel is not quite in Giardini Naxos but in the neighbouring district of Recanati. We arrived late at night and I found the bedroom to be very small and pokey but excellent aircon. The bed was very comfortable and there was a small fridge in the room. The balcony was small and at the back of the hotel but had great views at night time to Taormina and Mount Etna. The breakfast room was nice and airy and looked onto the street. The breakfast itself was your average buffet affair, nothing great but adequate. Having said that you wouldnt go hungry. Recanati beach is just around the corner. It is not a great beach and it costs 10 euros to rent 2 beds (there is no pool at this hotel). We found Bondai beach a little further away to be much better and only costing 12 euros for the two beds. To summarise, it is an average hotel, nothing spectacular but for the money we paid was good value.
