Not to far from Liseberg

A nice, quite cheap hotel with very guest friendly hotel staff. If you plan to use the tram (and not by car) for sightseeing, this hotel fits perfect, it takes 15 minutes to get to Liseberg with tram for example.

The hotel was excellent. My staying room looked very clean. The staff were nice and helpful. Breakfast was great. Interiors were good. Easy to check in and out. Bathroom was wonderful. Bed was very comfortable

Enjoyed my stay in Mølendal, short walk from the office. Big room, nice service. It was clean and nice, good breakfast. Just a short walk to the shopping mall where I could bye nice things. And they had the posibility to park your car
Poor value for money, good location out of the city.

My family and I had a 2 night stay recently stayed at the Scandic Molndal on a stopover in Gothenburg to see friends, visit Liseberg before travelling onwards to Denmark. This hotel was the most expensive part of our 8 day trip through Sweden and Denmark. Our room was a family room, which was small but did the job. Our window overlooked the inner part of the hotel. The room was to an acceptable standard on arrival but not worth the price tag! We arrived in the middle of the Gothia Cup, a big football competition, something we did not know. The hotel was therefore very busy with loud, obnoxious teenagers/kids running around. The lobby was full of players waiting to go to their match making it difficult to get past. This is something I am used to as a teacher but it did not create a pleasant atmosphere. Sadly, the fire alarm was set off in our first night, apparently someone, most likely from the suggestive tone of the member of staff we heard talking, was one of the footballers going through an alarmed door. Communication from staff was quite poor; my wife was told she could go back to the room having left from one exit, but I was not told anything having left from another exit, for example. We went to bed around 10:30pm ahead of a busy day at Liseberg and were woken by banging from the restaurant in the inner courtyard below. It was a cleaner, hoovering the carpet in the restaurant and tossing chairs to the side so he could clean under tables at 10:30pm at night! I was shocked by this and not what I expect from a Scandic! Breakfast was standard Scandic, which was to a good standard with a good selection of breakfast foods to choose from. The location of the hotel is good; a 2 minute walk to a shopping center with everything you need is a highlight of the hotel. The train ride to Liseberg took 7 minutes but a tram home did take longer (20 minutes). Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a short family stay, but I would suggest you shop around for cheaper deals.
Mediocre hotel, bad value for money

We payed more than EUR 250,- to stay in the hotel. For this price we expect some standards. Some areas of improvement for the hotel are: 1. Airconditioning in the room would have been good, or the ability to open the windows. It was too hot in the room, we called the reception, the indicated that they would adjust the room temperature remote but it did not help. 2. The bathroom was very basic 3. Accessibility to the toilet in the restaurant was with a code, this is not very welcoming 4. At breakfast there were no loafs of bread left, The bread buns were old/stale. No more waffles (self baking) left when we arrived. We were still eating at 10.30 - all breakfast services were terminated at this time - it would have been nice to have had a small warning 5. In the garage there are charging points for electric car - the process to get the charging working was too complicated so we didn't charge our car in the end.
