Nice hotel nice location near Hershey PA

We were on a vacation visiting Gettysburg and Hershey park and stayed one night at this hotel. It's in a nice and seems like peaceful area. The staff smiled and seemed nice. The rooms seemed very nice. The breakfast was disappointing but considering we are in a pandemic I'm surprised any hotel has a breakfast. Also, they had a small game room with a few video game machines, a basketball hoop and miniature put put course. Also a pool. If I visit this area again I'm definitely going to consider staying at this hotel. It was a pleasant surprise. The only negative I can say is that I did hear running water from another room from time to time. But I was not woken up by strange sounds during the night. But that's a minor complaint.

When I realized we were going to arrive early, I called to ask if we could get an early check in but no one answered the phone (x2). We arrived at 2pm and asked the front desk clerk if we could get an early check in. She seemed bothered by our presence and told us no. Ok, no big deal. We came back at 4pm and was greeted by a more pleasant lady. Our room was on the first floor. The very first thing I noticed was that the room smelled terrible- musty. My little one wanted to check out the hotel so we rode the elevator to the third floor and it was extremely hot and unnerving. Reminded me of a scary movie so we didn't mess around and went back down to the second floor where the game room was located. It was small….maybe 6 games. So we decided to go swimming in the indoor pool and we both had fun. Went back to the room to shower. Only had two washcloths and with no bathtub the shower made a huge mess in the bathroom. We had to put towels down to soak up all the water on the dirty bathroom floor. Couldn't sleep at night due to people on second floor stomping loudly. I have never in my life heard people above me while staying in a hotel. The bed is bouncy so, caution if you aren't sleeping alone. The next morning, we were startled by a visit from a mouse. I called the front desk at 7am to make them aware and was told she would contact her manager for further assistance. We left to go to Hershey Park around 11am and returned around 4:30pm. I stopped at the front desk to ask what solution was made only to find out no one was aware of the situation. The evening shift clerk was extremely helpful and called the manager right away. They upgraded us to a different room. In the bathroom, I was surprised to find a marijuana stem on the floor so obviously the floor was not swept when cleaned. We won't be staying in this hotel again. For the price, I definitely expected to have a clean room with no rodents.
I would not recommend this hotel.

Here are the issues we notified the manager of the very first day we were there. Numbers 1-10.
1. When we went to check in, the desk clerk told us she could see our reservation for today, but that there was no room for us. I believe it was you she had to call to get assistance in order for us to get a room. This is quite disappointing that we booked a room in advance for 6 nights and when we got here we’re told we had no room. Luckily that was fixed.
2. One of our lightbulbs was broken in the room. It was snapped and our children could have cut their hand on it. Luckily, the maintenance man came and fixed that.
3. Our room smells very old and moldy.
4. The pillows are so small they are the size of throw pillows.
5. We went to get more pillows and were told there are no more pillows in the entire hotel. Luckily, your nice desk clerk was able to find one.
6. The TV in the main room area did not work and maintenance had to fix it.
7. The vent/fan in the bathroom does not work.
8. The phone in the room is broken. We can call out, but every time you pick it up, it makes a jiggle sound like it’s cracked inside.
9. You state on your website that you have a heated pool and the pool is freezing.
10. We had no dish soap or dish towels in the room to wash the dishes yet your site says the kitchen has all necessities and they should all be in the room.
Also, they had no extra pillows to offer at all.
The TV volume stopped working.
The pool was freezing yet the website said it is heated
The room sleeps 5, yet the kitchen only had 3 of everything for utensils and bowls and plates. They say they have all things for kitchen, yet only a pot and pan for cooking. No sponge. No dish soap.
You know what the manager’s response was— not in his exact words, but he said sorry and then offered a 20% discount for only one night.
With all the issues we only got a 20% discount for ONE night.
We liked the location. Only about 12 minutes to Hershey park.
It had a great has station, sheetz, across the street that had a lot of things in it.
The pool, although it was freezer and not heated, was a lot of fun.
They had cool features like a very small game room, mini golf, basketball, and the pool.
The kitchen was very useful. Limited items in there. But useful.
The shower water power was good.
The hotel bed was very comfortable minus the pillows that were small like throw pillows.
There is a restaurant right next door.

Stayed one night. Got a handicap room, as I am in a wheelchair. Toilet stopped up around 10pm. Called front desk and they sent up room key to the adjoining room so we cound use bathroom in there, even though it was not a handicap bathroom. The room had not been cleaned from the previous guests. There were dirty towels everywhere, trash was on the counters, etc. When I complained to front desk, he did not have anything to say. I got the number for the Manager/Owner. He accused me of stopping up the toilet, although I do not know why I would want to do that - why, so I can use a non handicap bathroom? The worst experience ever with the manager. When I got home, I complained to Choice Hotels and that representative told me that the person I spoke with was not the General Manager/Owner and that she had no record of his name. WHAT???? If that is the way corporate guest relations handles a complaint, I will have NOTHING to do with Choice Hotels again. Unreal...If the Manager?Owner comments on this post, just know that he has ignored other complaints on this site. Do not stay here!!
Excellent place to stay

Stopped one night to link up with members of the family.
Hotel is close to the interstate. Clean place. Good parking.
Restaurant next door if you want. Nice room. Comfortable beds.
TV has good channels and operates correctly. Nice and respectful staff. The breakfast is very small at this time because of the Covid restrictions. I am sure it will get better as Covid disappears. All in all, a nice place to stay.
