The value of a great hotel
The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Halifax - Bedford is a beautiful and airy hotel. The interior of the hotel is luxurious and comfortable. The room is quite a spacious area suitable for all family trips, couples, and friends. The hotel is located near the central area, very convenient for moving to the shopping and entertainment centers. You only need to spend about 10-15 minutes to go to places like Halifax Shopping Center, Casino Nova Scotia Halifax, Halifax City Hall, Bedford Place Mall, Halifax Citadel National Historic Site of Canada, etc. And located next to many markets and restaurants like Tim Hortons, Sobeys, Swiss Chalet, Little Caesars Pizza, etc. The hotel also has an indoor pool, gym, parking lot, wifi, and event and meeting areas. Especially, I am very satisfied with the restaurant's free breakfast with European style food. The staff here are very friendly, helpful and sociable who was so patient with all types of different customers.
Convenient if flying
Hotel is clean and convenient if catching a flight in or out of Halifax. We thought parking was included while away but it was not. Breakfast included which is a plus. Hotel shuttle to airport as well.
Normally I do not post disappointing experiences. However; in this case I must. The website indicated that parking was free, however; we were advised at the front desk upon arrival that an additional $50 was required because we booked through a 3rd party! Prior to this we tried calling multiple times to advise of a late arrival, no answer. Upon return to Halifax, again tried calling for pick up at the airport, again no answer. Had to wait 45 minutes for the shuttle. We were dropped off at the front door, only to be advised there was no driver to take us to the long term parking, we had to walk. It is worthy to add, the long term parking was literally a "muck hole". upon arrival and final departure, the two different clerks were less than professional, their attitudes were basically "too bad" those are the rules for the parking fees and secondly, nothing I can do about getting you to the long term parking. Very unacceptable.
Spent a couple of nights on business here. It is under renovations as well as the hotel beside it is. Rooms were a nice size and sleep was comfy. Breakfast was good. Had asked a couple of questions looking for info but did not get what I was looking for.
Pay to park?
We stayed here with my sister who was flying out very early in the morning, and then were driving ourselves back home. This hotel charged us $10 + hst to park our car overnight while we were hotel guests. This hotel has a large lot that was half empty and there is no where else to park unless maybe if you sneak into the Hilton's lot next door. When we expressed our surprise to the front desk clerk, his only reply was that they have been charging for 13 months. Upon check out when I expressed my disappointment to the next front desk clerk, all she would say is that is what they charge. I find it interesting that their Trip Advisor listing has free parking under amenities. There is construction going on in this hotel do it gets nosey around 8 or 8:30.
