Time for an upgrade

Reviewed 12 november, 2022

The Good - staff is always friendly accommodating and gracious. They will do anything to make your stay enjoyable. The Bad - this is a tired property in need of an upgrade. HVAC is not adequate for larger rooms. Lighting is abysmal in the rooms (maybe to hide things?). Mattress is so so. TVs are tiny in comparison to modern property. Furniture throughout is drab dismal and very 1990. The Ugly - some spots are just dirty. Rugs in hallway. Chairs in common areas downstairs. Ceiling in shower had huge hole with a terrible repair - partly hanging down. Overall it’s a huge disappointment. Feels more like a Best Western than a Marriott. In fact Marriott should be embarrassed.

Didn't Have High Expectations ... but...

Reviewed 28 october, 2019

We have stopped at many small town hotel and we usually don't expect too much. This one was one of those exceptions. STAFF: Late check in was not a problem for Jerri at the front desk. She handled it like a professional, was full of information about the area and was very friendly. At breakfast the attendant was attentive and replenished items regularly. ROOM 325: Was clean, although it did have some minor cosmetic issues. I honestly believe this is the type of thing that would hold this hotel back from being a higher category hotel. The front staff in the morning was very attentive to write down the items I told them about and I hope they have them taken care of. HOTEL: Was clean and felt welcoming, the lobby looked and smelled fresh and was well planned. Gym was more than adequate for our needs and also was clean and smelled fresh. LOCATION: Coming off I-95 it was a bit of a hike, but well worth it. We would do it again. Easy to find if you follow the GPS. TOWN: We walked around the town early Sunday morning. There are plenty of nice little restaurant and shops within walking distance. There are two museums, Coker University and an indoor softball park very close by. If we come back I would definitely do some exploring. I would like to mention that on Sunday morning 10/27 we did observe and were alarmed by two police cars that came plowing down S 4th Street and crossed Cargill Way. The first police car did not have his siren on, only lights and he did not even pause when he went through the intersection. The second police car paused at the intersection and then turned on his siren. This was the ONLY thing that made me feel unsafe in the town. While it has nothing to do with the hotel itself, I hope the hotel manager bring this to the attention of their police chief. I would not hesitate to go back to this hotel.

Going down hill

Reviewed 3 september, 2019

I was here for 10 days, the weekend kitchen staff is slow and seemed everything you asked was a bother. The air conditioning in the rooms needs leaned as there is a stale smell. The cleaning ladies were excellent and the early morning weekday staff was polite and respectful. I have used this hotel for the past several years, but the building needs attention.

Never Again

Reviewed 14 july, 2019

We spent 2 nights in the Hartsville Fairfield Inn before moving. My family lived in Hartsville for many years and my husband and I have been staying in this hotel for 19 years. The quality of the hotel has gone downhill. The lobby areas are updated but the third floor room we were given had several places where the roof had apparently leaked leaving stains and pealing ceiling texture. The bathroom was old and had the same ceiling problem. The WiFi was so weak it was useless. We are long time Marriott customers. I am surprised they have allowed this quality of hotel to be part of their brand. We have already been back in Hartsville once and found another place to stay. We will return at the end of the month and again will stay somewhere else. We continue to stay with Marriott, just not this one.
