Hotel El Bosque

We had to stay here as it was the hotel in our overnight excursions to Havana from our resort in Santa Maria. The buffet was discusting. All the hot food was cold. No selection what so ever. The staff were NOT friendly. The room was old and very dated and smelly. Thankfully we only had to sleep 2 hrs as we had to leave at 4am to get the plane back to resort. I'd never go back by choice.

Stayed here as part of an excursion to Havana. It’s the worst place I’ve ever had the displeasure of staying. Won’t have slept here if we hadn’t had the day from hell due to extreme weather. Slept with one eye open. Only positive was a decent breakfast! Never again

Nice hotel, friendly and helpful staff, we stayed only for one night as we were with a group of 20 coming from other hotels in Cayo Santa Maria just to see beautiful Havana. There was nothing wrong with this hotel, breakfast was delicious and hearty. Of course it is Cuba and the standards of hotels are much lower than elsewhere but I can definitely recommend this one.

I made a reservation in October for 9 people, 7 adults and 2 children through booking.com. Upon arrival, we were told that children were not included and we must pay extra for them. I was highly confused since we paid for adults. Then the story quickly changed... The next thing we were told was two adults were also not paid for, and ultimately they claimed that only TWO PEOPLE were confirmed, for three rooms! I would love to know how that makes sense. They tried to "work out a deal" with us that was essentially charging us double on top of what we had already paid to the hotel! ** Let it be known American Credit cards DO NOT WORK in Cuba, so I was also unsure how if even WHY we would pay an extra $2,000 We went up to check the room to make sure it was even worth it, spoiler alert, it is not. The beds are hardly mattresses and are two twins in a room when advertised as full. The bathrooms were also very dirty and the toilet did not work. We ended up canceling and staying at a case particular in a much more central location of Vedado. This hotel is VERY out of the way. NOT 10 mins as advertised. There is NO pool, it is shared. Two weeks later, the hotel never sent booking the cancelation. While I was still in Havana I tried to get help and I was told no one wanted to give us confirmation that we canceled. Back in the states and a $20 phone call, they said they would send booking the cancelation that we never stayed there and I would be CC'd, and you guessed it, NOTHING yet. DO. NOT. STAY. HERE.

The Hotel El Bosque is in a lovely neighborhood in Havana, a stone's throw from the city's biggest park. The hotel is small and pretty, with a decent restaurant that overlooks a forest. The rooms are small and clean. BUT unless you plan to dance until 2 am, this isn't the place for you. Below the hotel is an outdoor dance club with amplified music (including a siren on one night). Music starts around 9 and goes until 1 or 2 -- making sleep in many rooms downright impossible. We were there for four nights, including Fri and Sat. when maybe one might expect noise. The music was as loud and went on as long on Sun and Mon nights though. The hotel is a 10 or 15CUC taxi ride from downtown Havana (a disadvantage) but we thought we were swapping convenience for quiet. Hardly! Photo is looking out the window of our room at daybreak- lovely. Could be a terrific place to stay were it not for the incredibly loud music.
