Could be 5 star

Reviewed 14 october, 2019

The hotel could really be 5 star. The rooms are clean, and beds are good. The staff were excellent all the way. I would stay again but I would take a taxi to another restaurant. I had Mediterranean Chicken for supper. It was to be a spinach stuff breast. I think it was a spinach spread. Very light on the spinach. A quarter of the breast was so over cooked it was like dry wood. The coffee was good. My wife had a hamburger and fries. Her fries were under cooked and tasted like the oil was old. We are not hard to please and I rarely send a plate back. But we left food on our plate. I wonder if the chicken chunk made a bang when it hit the trash can. So we tried breakfast. The food was all good. And service was all good. All the staff are good. But $500 pesos for two buffet breakfast is an American price un Mexico. I think for Mexico that is way over priced. Maybe I am already too displeased with the supper too accept $500 for two breakfast. So go ahead and stay there, but take a taxi and go find a place to eat. There are lots in the area.

Hotel with too much controversy

Reviewed 30 october, 2018

My stay was very disturbing, as there were people outside the hotel screaming and protesting them cutting live trees in a desert state. Never going back to a hotel where their actions can lead to people outside that may want to hurt the people inside. They need to work on their public persona. 1 star.

An OK place for a short stay in Hermosillo

Reviewed 28 october, 2018

Pros: The restaurants in the hotel (breakfast and dinner) were very good, not quite excellent, but very good. The climate control in the room worked excellently and there was very little noise in my room. Housekeeping was efficient and the room seemed clean to me. I did not get to use the fitness center due to my work schedule but it was equipped well enough to get in a decent workout. The front desk hotel staff were very customer focused and cordial. Areas for Improvement: It would be nice to have wash cloths or face cloths in the shower (there were only bath towels and one hand towel provided each day). I needed some peso so it would have been nice to have had a reasonable exchange rate offered at the front desk. A shuttle to/from the airport would also have been nice. The breakfast in the restaurant was good, but I would have preferred to have had some regular scrambled eggs available too.

Odd Holiday Inn

Reviewed 4 october, 2018

The staff here was very friendly and helpful (though they only had the pesos to exchange $20). This is not a high-rise, it is more a complex of 3-story buildings you have to walk to. Of course I was in the far back corner building. The key card was needed to access your room floor. The bar and restaurant were nice and comfy. I didn't use the pool, but it looked nice too. While it seemed like a secure campus, an Uber driver knew about a side entrance which wasn't secure.

Deceiving/Security Concerns/Worsr IHG Property

Reviewed 24 july, 2018

I can't remember the last time I had to walk away from a paid reservation. I'm an IHG Platinum and booked a King Jr Suite for two nights. Upon check in I noticed that I was given a two bed jr suite, but that wast the least of my concerns. The suite was located on a different building than the lobby and restaurant area and felt like an old motel. The elevators fit two people with small luggage and did not require a card activation to access them. What is unacceptable is that the lock of the card activated door for the 4th floor was broken (see pic) and anyone can have access to the rooms. Please note that this is a separate building with no security or cameras. I surely did not feel safe leaving my wife at the hotel room while out in business meetings. The suite was supposedly recently renovated but looked extremely tired and worn. I travel a lot for business and have never seen a hotel as deceiving as this one. The pictures of the rooms do not look like the Jr Suite I received at all. This was extremely disappointing and way below IHG standards. I'm not sure how this property is still part of the family. The receptionist did try to make it right by offering free breakfast vouchers, but given the above circumstances I asked him to cancel the reservation and ended up booking at the Hampton Inn, which was day and night better. Upper management needs to do something about this property and it's a shame how security is taken so lightly.
