Good location; old hotel
I like Marriott and the Courtyard brand is very good. Service at this location was terrific. Anything I needed, I received quickly. Front desk team was wonderful. Room was clean. I could tell that it was well run...good management...motivated employees. The downsides: Bed was old, lagged in the center; towels were old, even threads were coming off. However, I can handle some of that but not the smell. It’s clear the hotel was covering up something bad. There was a smell in the lobby and my room. The hotel sprays something to try to make it better (smelled like Frabreeze) but in the end, it’s toxic. I could not sleep and woke up with a headache. I feel badly for the employees who must endure this everyday. Not good for their lungs.
Great location if a little noisy but close to everything
Checked in for a 3 night stay and was looking for something central as I didn't have a car. This place fits the bill. Very spacious corner room on the 4th floor! In house Starbucks serves as the bistro. Valet parking only at $18/day. On rhe red line Metro light rail. Convenience store nearby with plenty of good dining options around. Beds comfortable. No room service. Friendly helpful and quick check in. Fast large elevators. Co-located with 2 other Marriott branded hotels in the same building. Would stay again if in Houston.
Downtown and close to everything
This is a combination of various Marriott brand hotels. The Courtyard has a restaurant and bar and the food is surprisingly good. One does not expect to get a nice burger in a hotel and cooked to a perfect medium rare. The staff is evidently trained in the " The customer comes first" attitude. The service was excellent. I don't normally put someones name in a review , However the service from April was so friendly and personalize we thought she was just great. We spent five days there for a business trip and will be back when in Houston
Mediocre at best, very disappointing
I chose to stay at this hotel for OTC as a Marriott fan. I was extremely disappointed that the hotel is very dirty, especially the common areas, unlike any experience I have had at other Marriotts I have stayed in the past. My room was supplied with half used soap and shampoos. Happy hour was miserly and on top of all these I was asked to pay for breakfast. Did I forget to say that parking also cost $32 plus tax for overnight parking. I definitely will not return to this hotel.
Best place to be in Houston
The hotel location is very convenient, on the Main street, where can get options for eat-outs and shopping. close to public transport and central location. Very convenient location to be in. Staff is very good.
