JW Marriott stay by Galleria

Nice hotel with a great location. Although it's a JW Marriott it did not feel like some of the other JWs in the chain, it seemed to lack the special feeling you expect from a JW. Lobby and other commons areas were very nice. Bar and restaurant area was just alright, bar also closed at 11pm which was early for a Friday. Room was a good size and nicely decorated. However, walls did seem to be a bit thin and for some reason the door to the room had a massive gap to the floor.
Super Great Executive Lounge and Checkin

We have been staying at this JW for the past 2 years, with always great success. Even during all the Covid times, the JW did a great job. Recently, we were able to visit the re-opened Executive Lounge and Delia was there, all smiles and very helpful. It is great to see our FAVORITE employees coming back to JW, which is a family by itself. Great checkin service, Valet service SUPER....THANKS.....

I stayed at the property for 2 nights this past week. To begin with, the hotel is all but shut down due to COVID which was not disclosed in advance. I arrived from Chicago only to find all restaurants, bars etc were closed until further notice.
The day I departed I arrived at the airport and realized that I had left my IPHONE 12 Pro Max Speed charger at the property. I called immediately and I was told that they would check my room and call me right back. Guess what, NO call back. I called 1 1/2 hours later and I was told that Marriott no longer ships personal items back to customers. My wife and I are long time Marriott and Bonvoy Chase Credit card members. We have stayed at Marriott properties worldwide and were shocked. I asked the Food and Beverage Manager if I coould speak to the GM and he told me he would have that person call me back.
Fast forward, Saturday 3.20.2021. My wife called to follow-up and a girl named Kend... said she would look into the matter and call her back by 3:00pm. 4:45 no call back so my wife called the property again and was given the run around. She left a message for a call back. All this for my charger. We are looking to retrieve it because of the cost. The new chargers for the iphone are $40+.
BTW: the cost to stay per night is $200 so we do not feel the expectation that the property be return via USPS is an unreasonable expectation. Ironically the employee also told my wife that they do not have access to the USPS. Huh? One has to think the USPS drops mail on a daily basis to the property!!! During the 4th (last) call my wife was told the property doesnt have a General Manager. Why was i not told this during the 2 calls I placed to the property.
Based on the runaround and poor service received, we would not recommend staying at this property. At the very least, I would suggest waiting until proper management is rehired and customer service is reinstated.
Not Up to Marriott Standard

Recently stayed here for a last minute weekend trip. There weren't many available hotel options, as this was right after the Winter Storm. When I arrived to the hotel I was impressed by the lobby and everything seemed clean and modern. My room was the complete opposite. EVERYTHING in the room felt old and dated. The bathroom, the walls, the technology / tv - remote. The lighting was poor, the shower pressure was weak and the toilet consistently had issues flushing. This definitely did not feel like a 4-star hotel. It felt like this was a old hotel with a renovated lobby area. Overall my experience was less than average and the hotel is decent at best. I came across a couple nice employees that were pleasant and helpful. I will never stay here again.

I have frequented this hotel for the past 7 years, while the facility itself can use some updates, the staff and level of service exceeds all expectations. To start off, front desk personnel are more than accommodating. Rince, Ahmed and pata are great! My children love Rince and are always so excited to see him and he welcomes them like family. Mimi and Sylvia at Starbucks are amazing alway providing fast, friendly service. It was so great to stay at this hotel again. We haven’t traveled since covid and my family couldn’t be more comfortable and feel more at home than at this hotel and it is all due to the STAFF. So please take note they staff is beyond amazing and if management sees this, please reward them. They are the reason we are platinum lifetime members!
