Very nice hotel overall... a reminder of why I like Embassy Suites!
Reviewed 13 September, 2021
My spouse and I took a weekend trip to Huntsville in August 2021 to visit a friend and his family, and we had the opportunity to spend two nights (a Saturday night and a Sunday night) at this Embassy Suites. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay. It had been a while since I'd stayed at an Embassy Suites, but this was a reminder of why I like them so much and why I need to stay at more of them!
Our check-in process on Saturday afternoon went okay. Our suite (#1035) was clean and comfortable, and I appreciated that they honored my request to be on a high floor. We were closer to the elevators than I would have preferred (I think I asked to be away from the elevator as well), but it was all right. We loved the room and the nice view that overlooked downtown Huntsville.
One thing I appreciated about this hotel was the business center where I was able to hop online and check my social media periodically during our stay. It's always helpful when hotels have business centers.
With our room, we were given vouchers to use for breakfast at the hotel. We used these vouchers for one of our two mornings at the hotel. It was a buffet breakfast which was all right, but we were a bit disappointed that the omelets were not available. It was a bit of an awkward setup because there's no one standing at the front greeting guests and seating them as they walked up, but the staff who provided service (such as getting coffee and juice) were friendly and helpful.
We were also given vouchers for free alcoholic beverages in the bar area during their early-evening food and beverage service, but we weren't able to utilize those vouchers because of the plans we had with our friends on those evenings. It was a nice touch, though.
Another thing we liked about this hotel was the nice, inviting indoor pool area. We used the pool but were bummed to learn that the hot tub had been removed at some point in the past. The pool was all right but hot tubs are a very nice amenity that hotels are, unfortunately, slowly phasing out.
One down side from our stay was that there were a lot of rowdy children who were running around, unsupervised. Not the hotel's fault by any means, but I wish the parents would have been keeping a closer eye on these kids and not allowing them to roam freely and rowdily everywhere around the hotel.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and I would have no qualms about staying here again.
Overall enjoyable stay, but some maintenance issues in suites

During my most recent trip to Huntsville, I stayed at the Embassy Suites for two nights, as I did for my last visit two years ago. I was somewhat dismayed by recent negative reviews, but elected to stay anyway because of my previous stay, which was enjoyable despite a few room issues. Plus the prospect of staying in a two room suite in an atrium style hotel was too tempting to pass up.
Things were a bit different this time, but my overall opinion is the same: A few problems in my suite were evident, but overall my visit was enjoyable. It's certainly not as bad as some reviews make it out to be.
This hotel was built to be an impressive showpiece, and in many ways, that's still evident. The lobby and atrium have that classic elegant decor that is sadly disappearing from modern upscale hotels. There's a large, impressive fountain in the center of the atrium, and plenty of greenery and seating throughout. I've always had a preference for atrium-layout hotels, and the one at the Huntsville location certainly doesn't disappoint.
My suite was 411, a king-bed suite with sofa bed in the living room. The fully-divided suite layout is another reason I like Embassy Suites as a chain, and my suite - with two TVs, along with wet bar with microwave and refrigerator - had all the amenities that I've come to expect. But there were issues with my suite.
The carpet was uneven in spots (not as bad as in my suite here two years ago but still noticeable.) The leather bottom cushions on two of the three chairs in the suite were torn, with the one in the bedroom being especially badly shredded. There were black and pink substances built up on the grout in the bathtub - while I can't conclusively say it was mold, it certainly looked like it. The tub bottom itself appeared dirty and discolored.
There were no major issues besides what I mentioned above, and I still had a relaxing stay in spite of them. Still, they're not the sort of thing one expects at a hotel with the Embassy Suites name, especially at the rates they charge. Even if they can't do a full renovation because of COVID, the grout needs to be cleaned and the torn-up chairs replaced.
The restaurant is closed for food service but the bar (and evening reception) is still running and serving drinks at least. And their hot breakfast appears to be running as normal. Staff service was excellent throughout my stay, and they even got me checked in early after my morning airport arrival. No complaints there.
The Embassy Suites in downtown Huntsville isn't terrible by any means, and I still had a good stay - but excellent staff, a beautiful atrium, and well equipped suites only do so much to mask the maintenance issues within those suites - especially for the price. I do hope the ownership group invests back into the hotel and makes necessary repairs and improvements. This was once the finest hotel in town, and it still has the potential to become a top-tier property again, but it needs attention and investment.
Couldn’t have been any better

If your looking for a great staff or a hotel. You can not find a better one than here. My daughter and I were in town for league play soccer. One of the things we always look for is an in-house breakfast and this one did not disappoint. No way you can go wrong by staying here. Thank you again for a great stay.
Please update soon; staff does horizontal mambo, in vacant rooms.

Our room smelt so bad we asked to move. While the room next door was not rented, the sound of adult playtime went on for hours. They moved us to that room the next day. I ask if the room had been cleaned I was told the room had been vacant the entire week. I asked to have the sheets changed and they did. The following night the same adult playtime happen in the room we moved out of. We still had access to the room so I know it wasnt rented. I told the staff on duty and they smirked. They were well aware of what happened. I don't think we will be staying here again. These rooms are way too expensive to have to go in behind that and the sheets not be changed.
Old and Outdated

A quick weekend getaway. As A Hilton Honors member, I was horrified with the condition of this hotel, especially the rooms. Stained carpet, peeling wallpaper, ripped chair upholstery and musky odor. The room was awful!
