Incredible, unique place to stay!

Reviewed 29 june, 2019

We only stayed one night there as we were passing through but wished we had planned to stay longer. Had actually booked it by chance as our other accommodation fell through at the last minute and the people we were currently staying with had stayed there and recommended/arranged it. We could not have been luckier. The buildings are old button houses of the village (google it!), beautifully restored. Lovely wood work and furnishings. Perfectly clean and comfortable. We ate at the restaurant which is also beautiful with incredible food. One of the owners Tolga was there and we had a lovely conversation with him late into the evening. He even took the time to show us around the village in the AM and explain some of the architecture. The village itself is quiet and calm, w/ fresh mountain air. So nice to get away from the crowds. Very small and authentic, it was so special just to walk around. There is a lot to see around the village as well, caves, nature, all kinds of tours can be arranged but as I mentioned, we only had 1 day! The river looked so beautiful. The whole project by Tolga and his family is to restore these button houses and bring vitality to the village in general. They do a lot of work in the community aside from their own properties. It is wonderful to support that. We absolutely loved our stay there and HIGHLY recommend it. Thank you again Tolga for your wonderful hospitality!

Calm and peaceful

Reviewed 9 august, 2017

We stayed 5 nights and we left happy. The room that we stayed in was a really fancy one – separated from the main building. Rooms that are located downstairs are better for summer since those rooms are colder. There are no A/C in rooms but you won't need it at night anyways. Design of baths, beds, and rooms are very elegant. Hair dryers, minibars, kettles, shampoo and shower jels are pretty sufficient. Breakfast and meals are awesome. They have special ovens – breads, pides that's made with this oven are simply delicious. Meals that's been made with carefully collected organic vegetables are delicious as well. Employees are always cheerful and helpful with every topic. The best recreational activity is Üzümdere with It's ice-cold water that is impossible to stay in more than 15 seconds. Mr. Aydın and his wife Jane should be congratulated since they've done a really good job.

A unique and special holiday experience

Reviewed 23 june, 2017

We wanted a few quiet days in a rural location after a week in Belek playing golf in an all inclusive 5 star hotel. We wanted a contrast and Ormana Active more than delivered. A unique holiday experience, in a unique hotel owned by a very unique couple. Aydin and Jane have lovingly restored some of the button houses of Ormana to provide hotel accommodation. The eye to detail in the restoration project is outstanding. This is not just a stay in a hotel but an Ormana Active experience. On the first day Jane kindly provided a guided tour around the village of Ormana explaining the history and architecture of the region. We were then given directions to Sarihacilar village and wooden mosque. A local village which has been abandoned and is slowly being restored by grants. Then once back in Ormana the next stop was The Eynif Plains to see the wild horses and the Caravanserai ruins. This is a vast and beautiful landscape that takes your breath away. The next stop was feeding time for baby goats. That definitely brings a smile to your face. On the last day was called at the village of Urunlu where Ormana organised another tour for us before proceeding to the caves. Lastly I have to mention the food and the restaurant. Food was delicious and more than ample. The surroundings are peaceful and once again beautifully restored. Here we met other guests and sat and chatted together with Jane, Aydin and their friends. It felt that we were in a friend’s house rather than a hotel ! Definitely recommend for a holiday with a little something special. Thank you Ormana.

Comfort, good food and friendly hosts, in a historical property

Reviewed 11 june, 2017

It was a real privilege to be able to stay in a beautiful and really historic Turkish village house, sensitively restored yet with an elegant modern bathroom. Our room was in the "mansion house", a few yards away from the hotel's other property and its restaurant, in the middle of a quiet and friendly village. breakfast was wonderful: not only cooked eggs and fresh local bread (some types baked on the property), but a huge array of different olives, local cheeses, home-made jams, salad and fruit. Also, the hotel caters for visiting groups for lunch, so good food was available at most times of day; we ate in the evening, and the interesting dishes were a refreshing change from the usual diet of sis and kofte. The hosts, Jane (French) and Aydin (Turkish) were kind and hospitable, and unfailingly helpful in suggesting interesting routes and sights. The village (Ormana) is in an area of beautiful countryside, with access to other parts in three directions: a perfect base.
