This hotel is a gem in a backwater that avoids being over commercialised. The hotel owner and his father were extremely friendly, they could not do enough for you. The hotel itself was just a short walk from the beach and the thermal springs that give the village its name, it was very clean and comfortable and our room not only had everything that we needed but quite a lot more. A shoe cleaning kit, a sewing kit, a toothbrush in a sealed pack were amongst the extras that very few tourist hotels provide. Breakfast was plentiful with a wide variety of items and it was a pleasure to sit outside the hotel in peace and tranquility whilst we ate. The port town of Agios Kyrikos with its multitude of bars, cafes, restaurants and shops was a 5 euro taxi ride away. All in all this is a hotel that I would certainly recommend
Peaceful and happy place to stay.
I spent 7 nights in Therma at the hotel and throughout my stay I was very happy with the service, cleanliness and the relaxed atmosphere created by the owner. The room I stayed in was perfectly adequate to my requirement. There was no special luxury but it had a very comfortable bed, lovely veranda, shower, and safe, not that a safe was a requirement on the island but was good to have for passports and cash. Close to the beach and the thermal baths it was a good choice.and I would happily return.
Stayed eight nights - the first six alone and the two last with my daughter. Traditional greek room of good size. Nice balcony with mountain view. Good breakfast, and when I suggested dark bread it was on the breakfast buffet as soon it was possible. I said my daughter would come the two last nights and that was no problem and no extra. Anthemis is well located in Therma with everything within walking distance. The only thing that could have been more of/better was the cleaning - not only take the garbage but also clean the sink and the floor. I stayed at Anthemis three years ago and the cleaning was better then.
Simple, Equipped, Clean, Economical
I wasn’t sure where to stay in Ikaria, so I chose this hotel through booking.com. We are very pleased with the accommodations. There’s an iron and ironing board, and air-conditioning; a small antiquated television (which we don’t really care about since we will NOT be watching television) and an elevator. The staff is kind and I had the deepest and longest sleep there of my 6 week vacation in Greece. Recommended!
Not your average hotel
You'll either love this hotel or loath it. It has lots of ticks in the boxes for equipment and services but in reality its very basic and the décor is dated. Rooms are small (we had three), and not much English is spoken, but then this hotel is all about it being VERY Greek. A lovely attitude from the owners, nothing is too much trouble, the place is very clean and when we visited it was full to the rafters of Greek ladies of certain age there to take the waters in the town's spas. The people watching was top notch. We went from wondering what on earth we had done booking here to being sad to leave two days later. Some of that is because Therma is a place unlike many others. What Therma lacks in sophistication it makes up for in may other ways - faded glory, paid spas, hot water springs in the sea, good food, and a very pleasant atmosphere.
