I enjoyed my stay, breakfast is always a plus with me, and it was always hot and ready. The beds are not as comfortable as I’d like but pillows make up for it. The pool, sauna, and hot tub are great. Absolutely recommend this hotel, in Iron River, Mi.
Great Stop for Snowmobilers
Great amenities and right on the trail. Other services are within walking distance for good food and the beverage of your choice. This AmericInn has an extra friendly staff to assist with any of your needs. The washer and dryer are sometimes a welcome bonus also. GREAT STOP
Nice Hotel with Pool Chlorine Problem
We stayed at this hotel on a Saturday evening prior a day of skiing. We checked in and found the hotel to be recently refurbished which was a nice surprise. The comforter cover on the bed did have quite a bit of hair on it so we notified the front desk and they promptly changed it. After dinner at the local supper club we returned to take our two young daughters swimming. They had been asking all day when they could swim. Within about a minute of entering the pool area our younger daughter started coughing constantly. My husband, older daughter and I also experienced burning eyes. A father and his young son were also in the pool and hot tub at this time and the boy was also coughing and the dad commented on why he was coughing when he was fine before entering the pool. After no more than 10 minutes the coughing and burning eyes chased us out of the pool area. Our daughters were very upset they weren’t able to swim due to the unsafe chlorine levels. The reason we chose to stay at the hotel instead of the local ski resort was due to the pool so our daughters could swim. Very disappointing. When I raised the excessive chlorine concern to the front desk staff that night they were very dismissive to me and blamed it on too many people being in the pool and they can’t control the chlorine. Mind you there were 6 of us in the pool and hot tub area at that time. The next morning we enjoyed a hot breakfast which was very good! I tried to speak with the hotel manager, however they were unavailable. The front desk employee I spoke to said the chlorine is out of their control and when I suggested they close the pool due to high chlorine levels she said that they would need to close the pool every weekend. Based on our experience we would not recommend this hotel if you wish to use the pool area. We left with two daughters very upset. Swimming is what they most look forward to when staying in a hotel.
We had to travel to Iron River for a medical procedure at Hospital (great hospital BTW) so we reserved a room at this hotel based on Tripadvisor Reviews, and also because Tripadvisor said they were Pet-Friendly. We are elderly, and we always try to travel with our elderly dog, so we were happy to find a place where we all could stay. The hotel might've been nice, and clean, with lots of amenities we did not need, but Pet Friendly? Tripadvisor, you need to change your description! I was challenged by the desk clerk for 20 minutes, because she claimed we needed to call ahead to arrange a pet room for our dog (no mention of that on the Wyndham Hotels website; we did our reservations there because we are Wyndham Members) and she seem pretty annoyed that there was actually one pet room left. I had to sign document listing all the things we couldn't do with our dog, such as bring her through the lobby at any time, all the financial costs of our dog doing anything in the hotel or room, and I got a lecture for not following the proper protocols. On top of which we had to pay a $25 fee to have the dog in our room, which was not mentioned anywhere in either Tripadvisor or the Wyndham website. Yow. Apparently there is a check box somewhere on the Wyndham website; you need to check this if you are bringing a dog. Never saw that! Went to the website when we got home and still did not see that! Fake news on her part. First time we ever stayed at an Americinn. I was humiliated.
Even better than I expected
Pool and entire hotel was clean. Rooms were free from odor, well maintained and had comfortable beds. Free breakfast was decent and foyer was inviting. Entire staff was polite, friendly, and helpful. We will definitely be back.
