Who & where is MARIA?!!!
Reviewed 19 September, 2021
Having spent the best part of 5 months hoping to move home it finally happened just 10 days prior to travelling so we were very ready for this break, which incidentally I had booked back in November & paid £1375 for 2 for 7 nights B&b, this is important for my review.
On arrival I took one look at our basic typically Greek studio & made for the bar! Single beds, pink decor, miss-matched coat hangers (it doesn’t cost much to sort that) a bathroom out of the 70’s, towels made of cardboard, a bottle opener but no wine glasses, a door that 1 hard push from intruder would have given way, no shower head holder & water that never maintained a steady temperature for more than 20 seconds, I could go on…
Having downed a few g&t’s & gone to bed we got up the next morning to be greeted by a nice breakfast, a good selection & again typically Greek (but we are in Greece). The reception, breakfast room & bar are modern, glass & marble this just raises expectations & so just adds to the disappointment of the rooms (that jet2 are allocated).
I asked to speak to the owner “Maria” who not only wouldn’t answer her phone, reply to her texts or emails but left Rita the young but capable receptionist to take the brunt of anyone’s issues or problems, I can advise poor Rita is sick of this, & we weren’t the only people unhappy.
I then remembered that Maria hadn’t bothered to reply to an email I’d sent prior to arriving or my message via the hotels fb page.
We enquired about changing room but at 70 euros a day given what we had paid already I wasn’t going to lay out more. Jet2 offered us a move to a different hotel & if we hadn’t been with friends I would have taken this option.
We took lunch once at the bar, this was lovely, so was the hospitality at the bar. The breakfast was the same for the week so no complaints there.
Maria (the elusive & totally errant owner) has decided to offer a cleaning service in rooms just every 3 days “due to covid” so after day 3 was part way through I enquired about the cleaning, our room was then cleaned. on day 5 I asked if they were coming again, Rita didn’t know….I guess this is a good financial saving for Maria, however for guests who have paid over £650 we expect the rooms to be cleaned every other day at least!! & bathroom bins emptied daily, after all, this is Greece!
On our last day I heard someone say they’d paid just £850 for 2 people for a week, if we had paid this, I’d have been fine with a nasty, dated room…in essence, do not expect the modern looking rooms on their Facebook page if you’ve booked with jet2 regardless of cost.
Maria, should you bother to read this, you need to take the reins & start working again, your staff are doing you proud BUT guests deserve a managed hotel & to feel like their business is important…most of us work all year for a week away!
As the jet2 rep advised me, this hotel has very poor management, I think that’s an exaggeration it has no management & no one who cares.

We're staying at the Poseidon Villas at the moment. I really would like to recommend it as somewhere to stay in Skiathos Town. The hill is a bit of a hike, as others have said, but there is a shorter route down a dirt track from the front of the studios, taking you onto the main road, bus stop no. 4, and the busier town.
The views from the elevated position are fantastic. The staff here are brilliant. The rooms are cleaned every day and nothing is too much trouble - plenty of choice at breakfast - the pool area is kept absolutely immaculate ( the promotional photos on Jet2 holidays website do not do this justice at all!) The bar and restaurant, adjacent to the pool, offer an excellent variety of drinks and meals. The tables, overlooking the bay and port, are set for dinner in the evening. We've eaten here a couple of times already, and would definitely recommend it. The food is freshly cooked and of a high standard. Even if you're not staying at the Poseidon you can still come and eat at this lovely restaurant.
I wouldn't normally write a review whilst still on the actual holiday, but I feel this warrants a good review in many ways! 🌞🇬🇷
Loved the staff and the hotel

We enjoyed our stay, and it was extra special, because we was celebrating my wife's 40th birthday. The view was nice, and rooms very clean. The Staff was wonderful! As a business owner myself, I watch how the employees treat customers. The young lady at the front desk "Rita" was wonderful, in some many ways, and she made sure my special request were perfect for my wife's birthday. Also Demetrius (that works at the pool bar) made our stay SPECIAL is well. I felt like we made new friends with them both and look forward to seeing them in the future.

Having had several holidays cancelled due to Covid we took the plunge and rebooked Skiathos as it seemed a safe bet compared to some of the other more popular islands
We weren’t disappointed and we were enchanted by this beautiful island which gave us a little taste of normality during these anything but normal times
The accommodation is basic - as was expected from reading the reviews and yes it is a very steep climb which kept us all fit
However the pool area is fabulous and its panoramic views of the bay are simply breathtaking
We are a family if 4 (2 adults with 2 adult children) and we had 2 adjacent studio apartments with lovely balconies over looking pretty gardens where we sat and had pre dinner drinks every evening
The town with all its shops bars and restaurants are within easy walking distance as was the beautiful Megali Ammos beach
Maria, Dimitrius and Sam were outstanding hosts - nothing was too much trouble
We would definitely like to return in the future
