Good Budget Hotel

Reviewed 28 november, 2022

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights 24-27 November 2022. Its a little difficult to find as the side streets have no names, so use Google maps directions to guide you. The hotel is small just 8 floors. Breakfast is good in a small dining area located in the basement. Staff are polite and pleasant. Location is good near Taksim Sq. Within walking distance of Istiklal Street and the Metro. Plenty of local shops, currency exchange bureaux, a couple of pharmacies and many restaurants nearby. Also an Irish Pub. Bus service to and from Istanbul IST and SAW terminates nearby about a 4 minute walk. Across the road from the bus terminus is a Nero coffee shop. Rooms are small but beds are large and comfy. Rooms have air-conditioning and heating. Bathroom is compact with a walk in shower no tub. The area is not noisy being in a side road, If you are on a budget trip I would highly recommend. The entrance to the reception is up a flight of stairs which are quite steep, so be warned if you have mobility problems. Having said that the staff will carry your luggage up and down. The upper floors are accessible by a small elevator.

Very bad service

Reviewed 13 september, 2022

The only thing good is the location. The staff were unfriendly and disrespectful and most of them do not speak English. The sewer of the shower was closed and they said that they can do nothing for me. When I complain from the bad service the receptionist said to me go to the booking.com and complain to them!! The last day I reserved a taxi to the airport and I paid in advance but the next morning the taxi came about half an hour later and was not the same car we agreed (we were 5 persons with 5 suitcases). The breakfast was poor. There was everyday a problem in this hotel. One morning the receptionist call me in the room at 06:00, I could not understand because he do not speak English then he send somebody to knock the door of my room!! In the end it appeared that the receptionist made a mistake with the room number, but he did not apologize!! My advice is to keep away from this hotel.

Good Location and Staff

Reviewed 22 august, 2022

The Hotel is good located, near to Taskim Square & metro station & tunel The street is calm better than other streets around The staff is very helpful, especially Turgay in reception, always smiling, asking every time if we need something. My only remark is for the staff (WOMAN) of breakfast (never reply to good morning, or bonjour or merci and i find this very unrespectful during my 9 days of stay) Big thanks for the room service team, the room was everyday very well cleaned, in order to cups water that we found in the room. The Breakfast could be more diversified for those who dont like Turkish Breakfast (for example need more fruits and Toast bread) and another thing very important, the hotel offer good ratio value for money, we have good location & room quality for the money/ amount paid.

Only location is good

Reviewed 16 may, 2022

This hotel was below average, only location is very good but they are plenty of hotels near by. To start with the room, very small, very basic even no tissue, and not so clean. Not to mention that we had very annoying guests in the same floor where their kids were screaming all night and playing in the small corridor. The left over food in plates from room service were kept outside for 2 days. Breakfast again is very basic, no variety at all. Even the simit which is so popular in Turkey the taste was horrible. Plates not clean, even seats are dirty, no effort to clean the table between a guest and another. The second day we had a tour scheduled and breakfast was supposed to be from 7.30 to 10.30. We came down at 7.40 and they were still closed, lights off, and we understood from the lady who doesn’t speak English that breakfast is not ready and to come later! Unfortunately when we came back after 20 min there was no more seats available (it is a very small area and cannot accommodate half of the hotel guests) and still breakfast buffet wasn’t fully ready. The next days until we left, we decided to have our breakfast outside. NEVER BOOK EXCURSIONS THROUGH THE HOTEL! To be fair the receptionist guy was very helpful, staff overall are nice, however the companies they are dealing with for tours are very bad (Green Express). We booked 3 excursions and all were very bad. The first one was to Sapanca which is a very nice area but the organization was a mess and majority of the time was to make us buy from their other partners (whether honey, Turkish delights, etc.) instead of spending time at this lovely place. To add that we ending up paying for everything so the fees we paid was only for the transportation and a very basic cold lunch. The other tour was to princess islands.. OMG!! This was the worst. We ended up just waiting in the boat for longtime until he decided to leave the port. The ambiance was very low class. People were complaining. And again the time spent in each of the 3 islands was very limited. To add that this guy didn’t bother to share any touristic info or to guide us once there. I had to google to know what we missed there as he did nothing. Probably he was busy having shisha all the time!!! Believe it or not … We could have went by ourselves and at much lower cost. No words to describe how bad was this tour and how frustrated we were. The 3rd tour was a lunch cruise (this was with another tour organizer but also very bad). We spent more than one hour in the boat waiting for them to move. Lunch quality was bad, we tried as much as possible to enjoy the beauty of Turkey. An advice: book your tours separately! Also, you cannot trust taxis. One taxi dropped us before reaching the hotel saying you can walk it is only 5 min. Another taxi, he insisted to take 320 TL from the hotel to airport, while we paid only 160TL from airport to hotel (it is only 30 min.). This was our 4th trip to Turkey and we noticed lots of changes but still we like Turkey and we would like to visit again but definitely we will stay in another hotel.

very nice hotel. good choice

Reviewed 4 may, 2022

i just came back from my journey to Istanbul and we stayed 5 days at Ferman Hilal hotel. it was really a good choice. the location is really great. so close to Taksim. so close to the buses station that go to the airports. the hotel is surrounded by restaurants and shops and was really calm. it is a little small, but very nice. i sent a mail in advance to the hotel requesting the type of beds, because we booked 2 rooms, and they were so collaborative. we arrived early in the morning, Turkiye at the reception welcomed us. he gave us the room early and was helping us all the time. even the other receptionist were very nice. we enjoyed our spa and turkisb bath too. we enjoyed our stay and was really a good choice.
