Cosy hotel with a friendly staff

Reviewed 14 november, 2022

Very friendly and welcoming staff, nice breakfast, first night we stayed in a room with street view which at fits was fascinating but later in the night was extremely noisy and the staff was kind enough to change the room, so we enjoyed another 3 nights in a queit and cosy atmosphere. Special thanks to Mohamad who helped us calling a doctor as we had an incident. He made all his best to assist us and organized all the necessary details. The hotel has perfect location, is clean and well managed, so I can definitely recommend it while staying in Istanbul.

Nice and clean hotel!!

Me and my husband were there 4 nights on October. Very clean and pleasant hotel, great location, a bit loud but that's Istanbul. Close to everything, you can go walk. The fridge did not work, despite the fact that we asked twice to fix it, they forgot. The water pressure is a little worse in the morning. Breakfast is basic. But except that everything is great!

Excellent service, Super clean, Great breakfast , Good location

My husband and I stayed at The Black Tulip Hotel for 11 nights in October 2022. This rather quaint hotel is situated 50m from the Gulhane tram station, which made commuting effortless. The Manager, Jihan, and his amazing team of Front desk personnel i.e. Ilham, Enver and Muhamed, Assistants, Cleaners, Kitchen staff, Waitrons and Maintenance staff were all efficient, friendly and extremely helpful. They made our stay very comfortable and memorable. The room and bathroom were cleaned immaculately daily (including Sunday!), really refreshing to return to, after a full day of exploring. Service delivery was very prompt. The hotel foyer and dining area were always clean and tidy. The breakfast buffet selection was extensive, offered a variety to suit different palates, the hot and sweet selections changed daily. Waitrons were always clearing-up and very courteous. The front-desk staff went the extra mile to recommend places of interest and guide us to plan and maximise our time in Istanbul. The Manager, Jihan, has a friendly, yet professional disposition…he is steering a well-oiled ship!! I would unhesitantly recommend this hotel to any traveler who seeks a clean, centrally situation hotel that offers service par excellence.

Lovely cosy stay

Liked The hotel has an excellent location. The staff made our stay an exceptional one and were always helpful, Muhammed and all the guys, especially front office manager Cihan. The room was neat, tidy and comfortable. The breakfast was varied and had a lovely spread of food each day. Very filling and nutritious. The wifi was excellent and worked well at all areas of the hotel. They even gifted us a farewell gift and just couldn't find any faults with anything. We really loved our stay and would definitely stay here again in future. Take note · Listed a few things others have already mentioned: One access card, which when taken out, the aircon and fridge stop working, your drinks and room stays hot until you come back again. The room walls aren't soundproof and you can hear everything in the rooms on both sides, which can disturb your sleep. The bed doesn't have a proper duvet or blanket. These are small issues that can be resolved and I must stress this, it doesn't affect your stay at all because it is a lovely hotel with the very best of staff :)

Ideal location with lovely staff.

After reading many positive reviews, we decided to book this hotel for our stay in Istanbul. We arrived around 2am and a member of staff came to meet us and help with our cases, as the taxi driver could not park directly on the street. From the beginning, the hotel staff were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. They are a real credit to the hotel. The hotel is very clean, and the towels in our room changed daily and bedding refreshed. The bathroom facilities are very modern with a decent sized shower cubicle in our room. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are provided. A really decent hair dryer is also available in the bathroom. A kit with shower cap, housewife set and soap was a nice addition. Air conditioning is free and two bottles of water were provided free of charge daily. A safe, coffee and tea making facilities and small fridge are also included. Breakfast is typical Turkish with a selection of meats, cheeses, olives, cucumber and tomato, fruit, yogurt as well as more traditional Turkish cakes and syrups. A small selection of hot items are also available. Don’t expect a ‘full English’ - embrace the local cuisine. There were a few very minor niggles. On the side of the hotel in which we were staying, there was a set of quite steep stairs before you could get to the lift, which may be a problem for some. There were very few plug sockets and these had flaps which needed to be lifted up before inserting the plug. We had taken double travel adaptors with usb charging sockets which we were unable to use due to the socket covers. The key card slot in our room constantly flashed blue light which made sleeping very difficult the first night. We had to try and cover this with a scarf to eliminate the flashing. Despite these very minor negatives, this hotel is ideally placed for the major attractions of Haigia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace etc. Gulhane Park is a short step away and its pleasant shade is a respite from the heat. The tram runs directly down the street and the stop is just at the corner. Despite the tram and a busy, bustling street, we were not disturbed by noise. Another thing to note is that the Black Pearl hotel is the same as the Black Tulip so if you arriving by taxi, tell the driver you are going to the Black Pearl. Payment for extras such as laundry and the airport transfer were cash only as the hotel doesn’t appear to offer card payments. I would really like to give this review four and a half stars if I could.
