We got back yesterday after a week away and staying at this hotel. The hotel in photos, mainly rooms are quite deceiving. We paid extra for a sea view and we did have this, however the room was a really let down and negative of our stay. We were in 337, ems of block, ground floor. The room, especially inside the wardrobe had a musty smell and every day the bedding was damp as were our clothes. The bathroom, is very small and very dark lit. Due to having no window in the room, everything felt dark and dingy. The walls were also damp at times. The mattress is the worst I’ve ever had, the first two days seemed fine and then my back was in agony and my husband was the same. It is ultra firm and no give at all, for some however this may be perfect. But it really impacted my sleep after the 2nd night. A drain hole in the bathroom not ideal and smelt terrible also. I regret paying the £134 extra and the rooms opposite the pool actually look lighter due to windows and had a hanging hammock, wish I had realised and saved a little money. Was nice to have a little balcony area however. The check in was flawless, welcoming and friendly. A sandwich, fruit and glass of wine on arrival as we arrived past 10pm. The breakfast was excellent and so many choices, being a vegetarian I didn’t have to worry at all. We were half board and ate evening meal 3 times, including the Al a carte which was included. I enjoyed every meal I had, we just like change and to experience different places so ate out for half our stay. My only gripe was one evening a burrito was marked as vegetarian and i put it in plate and had a second look and it was clear there was mince meat inside. The chef came running over after seeing me inspect, realising a error had been made and changed the signs over and was very apologetic. It’s happened in UK restaurants over the years and abroad so I always second check and no harm done as such but if I hadn’t I would of probably ended up eating it and being very upset. All staff are friendly and accommodating, they work relentlessly hard. Stray cats come in and out and they look after them which made me happy-but be warned of the ginger cat, looks friendly but takes a fair good swipe!! We didn’t sit around pool as was out exploring, but it’s kept clean and tidy. The beachside bar is a really nice chilled area and agin all staff are great. It’s not like you go on holiday to spend the time in your room of course, but you do want a nice spacious, light and comfortable room and for us this wasn’t & really marked our stay down. A plus, was the shower it was really powerful and hot. Maybe just top up the coffee capsules every day in the room as well, instead of giving 4 only for the stay. It’s those little touch’s that continue to make a place. That said, I did nothing to raise it with staff, just got on with it and maybe if I had then our room could of been changed or a solution found. Little things around the hotel need addressing to keep it of high standard, such as the sign at the front with letters missing. Grass areas seeing to especially outside the sea view rooms. So a mixed bag review from us but not a awful One. Gouves it self is simply beautiful, laid back and chilled. All locals and bar or restaurant owners and staff are so very friendly.

The hotel staff was lovely, at the reception they welcomed us with a glass of wine and offered a gift of a 15 minute massage of our choice and dinner in the hotel's dining room. The breakfast was good and varied. A hotel located on the sea with an amazing view, a supermarket, car rental and good restaurants within walking distance. A bus stop for Heraklion and Hersonissos is 500 m away on foot. The hotel is generally inhabited by older couples, which allows for peace and quiet during the stay In addition gianna the massage therapist was incredible
Beautiful and relaxing hotel. Super friendly team and so chilled.

Beautiful hotel, all the staff are so friendly. Lovely relaxing atmosphere. Perfect way to unwind. Fabulous massage too with Rania. I feel like a new man! I opted for the deep massage and I don’t think my knots had a chance. Lots of choice at breakfast and dinner. All the food is lovely and fresh and the team are so friendly and attentive.

Beautiful hotel overall. Rooms spacious and very clean. Didn't like the fact the cleaners left windows wide open when being in. Mosquitoes about so it's not good. Pool plenty beds and no rush to get one. We were half board. Food lovely. Lots of fresh choice. Never had a bad day. Beach bar very good. Food there very reasonable. Cocktails fantastic. The staff in this hotel can't do enough for you, from reception to restaurants. Lovely touch push bells around pool for waiter's service. My only downside to our stay in Gouves is there just was not enough to do & see in Gouves itself. However I am so pleased we choose this hotel.
